  • Cleaner Wax and Gold Class on kitchen table

I have a black kitchen table that had begun to lose it's shine. It's used as an all purpose table sometimes and picked up fingernail polish and some other nasty stains. I hand rubbed cleaner wax on the bad stains then used the pad that comes with the 7424XP to polish/wax the whole table. I didn't get all of the fingernail polish off but it took quite a bit of it down where it's barely noticeable. Got a nice glossy finish and then a coat of Gold Class on top buffed by hand.

My wife likes it better than the Scott's Liquid Gold she always uses. Not quite the same shine but no oily residue. If I work with it long enough I can get it there. The hand rubbed spots came out to an extra high gloss, evened out by the pad. Guess I've got a new job and a use for the pad that doesn't go on the car, I know the pad cleans pretty well. Maybe I'll try a black LC pad and cleaner wax next time for the final step.

No before and after pics, I always forget when I decide to do something spur of the moment.

You could try a little stronger cleaner on the polish.

I've got some M04 I could try to hand rub. My other alternative is to wet sand it off. I'm scared if I tried a razor blade I'd gouge it.

What is the surface made of?

Don't know what kind of wood, doesn't seem to be too soft. The finish seems to be a black laquer.

Hard to say then, good to stay as gentle as possible.

Wow, flashbacks to Meguiar's circa 1901 - we started our as furniture polish company in Evansville, Indiana back then. Seems the more things change, the more they stay the same!

I've been using Meguiar's products for 20+ years, and not always for their intended purpose. All of my fly rods get a coat or two of NXT whenever they need a good cleaning. I don't want anything with abrasives and it has just enough cleaning ability to cut whatever dirt and crud has built up. My gunstocks also get NXT or Gold Class and a few get NXT on the barrels. Countertops, bathroom vanities-polish and NXT.

If Meguiar's works on it, it gets it. The wife is always amazed how clean and shiny I can get things in the house using automotive paint products and how little I use compared to the supposedly super household cleaners/polishes. Now I've got to try the Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Wax on the countertops with the PC. Or maybe the DA Microfiber system. Think I can make peanut butter slide off? I'm gonna try.
