  • Difference between UC105 and Ultimate Compound

What is the difference between UC105 and Ultimate Compound. I keep reading and reading articles and talking to different people, they say use UC105 the UC205 or they will say 84/85. I have a black 2006 Tacoma with some minor scratches (they look white but fingernail barely catches it) and minor swirl marks and also a 2005 Camry metalic gray color with minor scratches and hard water marks that won't come off with claying. I use a Porter Cable for polishing and used the #82 with another brand polish and wax. What you people recommend I try?

(I have also signed up for the upcoming Saturday class but that's not until Aug 20th).

Ultimate Compound is what you would want... it is a little weaker than #105, but better designed for the PC.

    Claying removes contaminants, not swirls/scratches.

Like Murr1525 stated since you already have a porter cable your best friend will be Ultimate Compound. A lot more user friendly than M105 and cheaper ounce for ounce. M105 also requires technique and can sometimes can be hard to remove if the right technique isnt applied. Remember like removes like!

Being an owner of a 2007 Tacoma I'd like to congratulate you on purchasing an awesome truck..... and a Porter Cable. You wouldn't want to tackle all that by hand! I personally have used M105 followed by M205 on my truck. If I would of had Ultimate compound at the time that would of been my go to product. It is a great compound and produces amazing results. Now I always keep a bottle on the shelf to make my life easier at times. Ultimate Compound also finishes off very well but finishing it off with a polish like M205 will make the paint reflection much more crisp.

You can use the same technique on the Camry. Wash . Clay . Ultimate Compound . Wax ... You first need to determine wether the water spots are above the surface or etched into the paint intself here is a link for you to read in order for you to determine which one you got http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...r+spots+etched

Remember work a 12x12 area with medium down pressure on the head of the polisher and slow arm speeds with the speed set at 4-5 overlapping by 50%... Most importantly keep that pad flat and spinning. To help me out with that I have placed a black or white line on top of my backing plates so I can keep an eye on it while buffing. Good luck on your ventures and let us know how everything turns out.
