  • My Black Wax review

Picked up a tube of Black Wax the other day to try on my Nighthawk Black Acura TSX. I usually use Speed Glaze on the DA followed by a coat of #26, but have been wanting to find a good one step wax for more regular use. I couldn't wait to try the Black Wax once I read that it is actually a cleaner wax with extra polish that dark colored cars need.

Overall, I am very happy with this product. The only downside is the tube itself which crumples easily and is rather frustrating to use. After puncturing the tip with the cap, I found it hard to squeeze and ended up with a lot more on the applicator than intended. This was not a problem however, as I just transferred the blob of wax to the hood and blotted it with the applicator as I went. The product smells absolutely fantastic.

Application was a breeze - it really does spread like butter and its as if you can feel the added polish because it goes on so smooth. A little bit goes a long way too, making it a great deal and well worth the price IMO. Removal was also quite easy but it took a little while to dry. This may have been due to humidity etc, but either way it works best to wax the whole car before removing the product. I was very impressed with how it left no dust behind - and there was literally no white residue left in the paint chips on my front bumper as with other waxes.

So in conclusion, I would highly recommend this product to anyone with black or dark colored cars. It's cleaning ability makes it a great one step product, and the added polish creates a really nice deep, dark, glossy finish. I have no doubts as to the protection it leaves as the surface is very smooth, slick, and beads water like crazy.

Thank you Meguiar's for another great product!!!

Was the black wax able to remove any swirls?

I wouldn't say it actually removed swirls, but it masked them at least to some extent. A couple years back I tried swirlX by hand but created some micro marring so I basically gave up on removing the swirls completely.

I don't understand this product. U apply like a wax and remove?? Or do u use a DA like ultimate polish to remove minor scratches and the just wipe off and done? This is Opposed to ultimate polish w da wipe then apply wax and wipe which is a long two step process.

So how do use black wax and should I replace my ultimate wax and ultimate polish with it?

i have a black car so I'm interested. But just too many confusing slections.

It's an AIO (all in one) so it combines the polishing and waxing steps in one.

It will remove minor swirls and leave some protection behind. But being an AIO, it won't remove swirls as well as a dedicated polish/compound and it won't protect as well as a dedicated wax/sealant.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Remember, for it to be effective with its cleaning ability it has to be worked. Wipe on, let it dry, wipe off just adds protection.
