    Could someone explain this to me?

    There's the (tm) logo and I've also see an (r). Is there a difference between the two? I'm creating a brand and I want to have the name and logo protected. I'm just not sure what route to go down to have it done.

    they have lawyers that deal strictly with trademarks, I'm sure there are quite a few in the buffalo area.

    www.uspto.gov ( U.S Patent and Trademark office ) is a good place to start to get familiar with the process
