I dunno, sea sponges never struck me as any softer than anything else, and arent you going to have the problems as you would with any other sponge, as in not being able to lift dirt away from the paint.

Another thing to add to the MF debate is the Silk edging in the Megs MF cloths,
I have some really cheap MF cloths from my local supermarket and the edging is very rough and has no protection on it.
But then they are £0.89 for 3 and branded 'Value MicroFibre Cloths'. No good for much but i find them good for dressing the engine.
