  • Need help in purchasing a car cover...

    Hi there,

Well, I'll be moving to a new apartment in August, only two blocks away from where I'll be working. So needless to say, my baby Civic will be sitting outside in the parking lot M-F with little to no use except for the weekends. I'm in the market for a car cover and have done a little research - and I came to my favorite car crazy forum in hopes for some advice!!

I've narrowed my search down to either the Wolf of Covercraft Evolution 4 series covers. It seems fit for me - I need protection against acid rain and eventually snow in the winter time.

So far, the cheapest place I found online with free shipping for it is coversolutions.com, for $129.95 - I have an '05 Honda Civic Coupe and I'm only looking to spend $130 max including shipping.

Has anyone on here had any experience on buying this or other custom-fit car covers and can suggest any other online sites?? thanks!

I got mine at carcoverworld.com and love it. Just be sure to dust the car well with a Cali Duster and follow with a QD spray and MF towel before putting the cover on.

If this is going to be your "garage" so to speak, do not skimp on the cover - find a way to buy the best one you can possibly get. Lots of good info on the site I mentioned.

If you can get the kind that is form fitting to the Civic. The generic ones are not so great for cars with well taken care of paint. The "one size fits all" covers tend to be loose on many parts of the car, which means when the wind kicks up the loose spots will rub the paint as well as letting dust get under the cover and onto the paint. When that happens you can end up with car cover rash if your car is tucked away for an extended period of time, kinda like your M-F. Which will more then likely be Sun. night - Sat. morn, right?

I must admit.. I have a "one size fits all" cover but my car is in the garage and isnt subject to wind and stuff. If it was outside Id deffinately invest in a top quality cover.

hey thanks for the advice guys

i wound up purchasing an Wolf "Evolution" custom-fit cover from coversolutions.com. I'll let ya'll know how it fits when I get it!

Mike, thanks for the tip to use the cali car duster. I guess I finally found a use for it other than the 3 months its in my trunk during pollen season

96greencivic, I'm dropped on the Eibach Prokit with Bilstein struts & shocks - I've been nothing but happy with it all since I purchased them 11,000miles ago - it's a great combo for a daily driver

....a bit late for a reply, but I always suggest to always try Covercraft direct, too. They often have leftover/overstocks at about half price for some types of cars.

I bought 2 new Covercrafts (the Evolution kind) when I bought both my Neons 13 years ago, and the covers lasted nearly 10 years here in New England. I replaced them 2 years ago. I love 'em.

Covercraft is similar to Wolf (I think Covercraft may be the oldest maker), and both provide the Evolution, Block-it, Noah, etc branded designs, so you get the top quality with either Wolf or CC.

Believe me, what you bought is well worth what you paid. You'll never use plastic again.

If you mark your license on it, make sure you use a fabric paint, not a regular paint, spray, or magic marker.
