Bill Cosby's twin car was the inspiration for the album Bill Cosby Live at 200MPH

Sorry, I kinda lost all respect for ol' Shel when he tried to pawn off those replicas a few years ago as "original" Cobras for which he had the bodies hanging around (500 of them) in his warehouse since the 60's . But it's ok, I don't think he did any time in the big house for it.

        Separated at birth?

          "Car Crazy" Shelby

I think it was 43 chassis he claimed to have "found" in his Gardena, CA Goodyear Racing Tire Warehouse. Back in the sixties, Shelby planned to build 100 competition 427 Cobras. He set aside 100 serial numbers, but at $9,000 he couldn't sell them and converted many to 427 S/Cs (barely street legal). Shelby never completed the order of 100 chasis for the 427 competion cars. Funny thing - when the price of old Cobras went through the roof, he announced that he would be completing unbuilt cars as 1965 models.

In a L A Times article, noted Cobra restorer Mike McCluskey admitted to building the 43 chassis.

          Oops! Here's the aftermath:

I think it's very hypocritical for Carrol Shelby to be suing replica manufactuers for "counterfeiting" Shelby Cobras.

I have a copy of the L A Times article. PM me if you want it. Personally, I wouldn't spend a nickle on anything with Shelby's name on it.

Yeah, but at $500,000 each it kinda adds up.

Oh, maybe that's where the "500" number I was thinking of came from.

nahh only 21.5 mil. That just means he built these models for less than 1 cent doubling everyday for the month of July.
