I don't know, someone who "knows nothing about computers." He hasn't called me back yet, I called and he "just stepped out to lunch a second ago." I called right back and talked to the manager who I was dealing with before who said they are still working on it and said that the GM had come over and talked to them. So, every manager in the store now I guess knows of the situation.

Boy, I wish it has only been a month. I'd build my own laptop, but not too sure on that whole process. My PC I built 5 years ago still runs great! Only thing I've done to it is bought a 2nd, bigger hard drive and more RAM. Can you guess what I'm on right now? :P

Afraid I have to respectfully disagree. As far as I'm concerned, PC = Turtle Wax and Mac = Meguiar's. Get my drift ? There is just no comparison. My mom used to have a PC and it crashed like all the time. She hated that thing and was afraid to use it. Now she has a Mac just like me and she can't stay off the thing. But, to each his own, I guess. Just think you should reconsider.

        Re: I'm back.

Can't blame the "PC" for the retards at the repair shop not being able to fix it. That'd be like blaming the car itself for having swirls, not the people responsible. I'm sure Macs have been fixed incorrectly, so that'd make them bad computers too using that logic. I've never had a PC crash on me nor had a problem with one; this is a hardware problem that the "certified repair shop" couldn't repair after 8 attempts (it was forced to be sent back out by corporate, so now it will most likely be 9, whole 'nother story though --> *update*)

As for me using a Mac? I tried using one for about 5 minutes. I will probably never willingly touch one again.

              Re: I'm back.

I called him back later after I spoke with the Geek Squad manager, and he said something about being the GM and why should he have called me back if I talked to her. I said, my apologies, I figured since you said you would call me back, you would have. My bad!? Basically, nothing they could do at the Geek Squad could fix it (but hey, if I had paid $200+, it could have been fixed easily!). They were trying something else ATM they read somewhere or something.

Anyways, I've been dealing with this for almost 9 months now. My mother took over after I told her the above. Apparently the "corporate" I was talking to wasn't the real corporate. My mother spoke with someone at the "real" corporate office. The lady there forced Best Buy to overnight it back to the repair shop, who "didn't want to see the computer ever again," to have them look at it again. If they don't fix it or say they can't, I will supposedly, per "corporate," get my full purchase price back to buy another (exchange essentially).

My mom knows what she is doing, lol, so I'm not too worried. Takes the stress off of me now, whew!

              Post 3,000 FTW, lol.

I hope this is it. That it will be finally resolved one way or the other.

Hope your Mom, has better luck then we have dealing with those people.

I wish I knew how to work on laptops, lol. Only problem with it being a motherboard problem on a manufactured computer is you have to "tattoo" it when it's replaced, and the only place that can get the unlock codes for the programs is an authorized repair center.

Just a quickie update: The repair shop is still "trying" to repair it and has also tried to send a bill for $300 thus far. Some people never learn.

What you wait a week and the bill increases by $100.00. I swear something has to be done about Geek Squad.

                          Good luck, Tyler.

It increased by $300, they are supposedly taking care of this free of charge. Then again, that was the store who said it was an easy fix and couldn't fix it after a week. So they had to send it back out and the repair shop has had it for a week now.

So the Geek squad can't do it. They have to send it out? Then because of there limited capabilities as being the repair/service squad. They expect you to pay for a free repair.

It is so frustrating that we both seem stonewalled. You really can not get past the entry level of service. It appears that Best Buy has no inkling of what is going on in Geek Squad, or if they do, they really do not care.

It is obvious that this is spread out Nationwide there ability to hold our electronics hostage.

I feel better I got this mimi rant out.

                              Once again Good luck, Tyler.

I got a Dell, run a few programs to keep it cleaned out and use Avast Anti virus. It's a 2002 model and I updated the video card and doubled the memory and use XP. Keep her running myself.

I fix my own stuff, cars, house stuff, pretty much everything so far. Had a huge water leak and dug it out and fixed that too!

I hate most other customer support.

When I got my first Dell, my DVD player quit, had a part the next day and a tech installed the day after and cleaned the tower and made sure everything was working just right. That was when calls were made to those who knew how to do it. Now calling Dell or most others is a joke.
