    ICE from 1960!

    ICE = In Car Entertainment

A few years ago while at the Barret-Jackson Auction I snapped a couple of photos of a period correct TV in a 1960 Cadillac.

Sweet. Do you know if the TV still worked?

I'll take it swirls and all!

I wonder what that option cost.... maybe some of you young guns can dig around the web and find out...

                    Re: ICE from 1960!

The paint was completely swirl-out on this Cadillac and probably 85% of 90% of the cars I watched drive across the blocks for 3 days in a row were all just like this, swirl-out, scratched and scoured looking paint.

Maybe 5% were okay, and maybe another 5% looked real good, as in a true show car finish.

The lights at these shows highlight swirls really well but for some reason the TV cameras make all the cars look like they have liquid wet, show car, swirl-free finishes as they pan around the car and beam the images into the TV in your living room.

It would make most of you cringe to look at the paint on all these special interest cars. My best guess as to why so many really cool cars are so swirled-out is touched upon in these 2 threads,

                    How to approach strangers...
(See my comments on page 2)

                    Strange People

Interesting that both these threads used the word strange in them? Also, when searching for these two threads to add them to this thread I used the search word trust to locate them and as of tonight tagged them with this word also for future locating.

Detailing special interest cars is a tough nut to crack because you need to,
                    • Earn the owner's trust
                    • Somehow convince them you actually know what you're doing and won't screw up the paint on their baby.

The second listed item is tricky because all the people that don't know what they're doing are also trying to convince the owner of the special interest car that they actually do know what they're doing and the owner doesn't know who to trust.

Probably the guy that bought it already had a good detailer to fix the problem, well hopefully!

Car looks nice and the TV is a futuristic touch!, nice gadget...
