Decided to replace my '03 Matrix XRS with a Jetta Sportwagon TDI. That's the model with the diesel and great mileage. Good news is that the car is is sharp looking (IMHO) and the diesel has great torque and acceleration. The diesel is quieter that my Matrix! Bad new is that there is great demand, so car sells for list price. But other good news; no sales tax here in Connecticut (saves about $1,700) and a $1,300 federal tax credit for buying a low-emission diesel. And it may take a few months to get the car. Drove and rode in a Vauxhall Vectra TDI in Britain... definately good stuff, couldnt tell much of a difference.
I think here, diesel is about the same as gas, maybe more. Over there, it is much cheaper.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR BlueComment

Congrats on the new TDI! Try to be there when it arrives so you can oversee the removal of the protective shipping Mylar from the paint. That way you can stop the dealer from washing the car and ruining that pristine finish!

Seems like people will always complain about something involving money. Even when gas was at $2.03 here a couple weeks ago people were complaining how expensive it was. Thats after we paid $4.50+ for three months straight.
Back to the car though, have fun with it and make sure the dealers don't touch it.

TDI around here are very very popular. Even if it's more expensive than gas you are going to get more miles for the gallon

Nice choice. I would love to have a VW diesel. I'm jealous. I think they are great looking and you can't beat the fuel mileage, not even with a hybrid! And all these quacks think the hybrid is the way to go. Diesels have been around forever and still last longer, give more power, and get better fuel mileage than anything else.
