My T-Bird is at Maaco and is getting painted yay. costing me more than 1200 bucks. but it is all worth it. Just an update on the car, reason why it was taking me so long to get the car down there was I had to get a trailer to tow it.

Re: Car is at Maaco
I got my 96 Prelude VTEC repainted at one of the MAACO's in Orlando. Paint was decent. Definitely could have done a better job. If I had to do it again, I probably wouldn't go to the same one again. The rep was real friendly before the paint job. Afterwards, he was not as accomodating with some of my requests, saying, "The boss feels we have already spent too much time on your car."
Also, I went to them because they were the only MAACO that was willing to take off the lights and before painting. Later, I find out they did none of that. I found overspray on more than a few of my headlights and parking lamps.
I actually wanted to get the car repainted at this one shop that did high end auto body repairs. They were going to to take all moldings, lights, etc. off before painting, but they charged more than the amount I paid for the car.Too much of a good thing is even better!

Re: Car is at Maaco
Thanks guys, The car is getting a enamel paint job, it is cheaper and the Maaco I went to has all classic cars that they are working on, they had a 68 firebird and it was a magnificant paint job by them, not one run in the paint, and they had a 34 ford and two 72 camaros and three 60's mustangs. They had a couple of caddies and one old GMC truck and a 64 Falcon. they have huge rep at this Maaco. so I am sure they will do a good job.Alex

Re: Car is at Maaco
know some talented painters in my area, some guys who love their jobs and do it well.
The problem is that when they looked at the cars i had and have they get a little scary and keep pushing further my appointments.
We also have large dealers who do not charge much more and also do good jobs.Perfection is an unreachable star we like reaching for.
We may look fussy on that road.

Re: Car is at Maaco
I just got my new car back from a Maaco-style place called Econo Auto Painting and Body Work. Oh did I say new car? Well new to me ... it's actually a 1986 Chevy Cavalier RS that I traded my 203,000-mile 1997 Dodge Caravan for. I hated to see the Dodge go, it has been a GREAT vehicle, but the time had come and the guy really wanted the van. The Cavalier has ONLY 61,000 miles on it and in the last six month the guy who had gotten it from his mother-in-law had put new shocks/struts, radiator, engine mounts, most seals/gaskets and a bunch of other stuff. The silver paint was in bad shape but he had dents repaired and primed. It's going to be a third car/daughter learning to drive car. She thinks it's cute and wanted it to be blue.
I was a little nervous but I sure didn't want to put much money in a paint job so spend just over $400 with them. It is three days old and actually turned out nicely. They didn't Flatblack the mirrors and doorpost like I paid for so I'll have to talk with them next week--and will probably get the money back and just handle it myself.
But all in all, for the not-so-classic Cavalier, I'm pretty pleased. Very pleased and my daughter is happy with it.

Thanks for all the help!
