Hi all, another little survey. What's the most poular tune here....Comments also, please.

Mine - V8. It has a unique note that is easily distinguishable from every other engine. It is such a great note,I wouldn't even bother with a sound system in the car. For me,it is music!

Hmmmm........ V8 as in the deep growl of a small block Chevy or the sexy scream of a multi-valve, multi-cam Ferrari?

For me, it's a 12 cylinder on full song - it's like a symphony on wheels! Heck, for that matter the V12 in the new Ferrari 599GTB Fiorano sounds better at idle than most cars do running through the gears!!

Nice choice Mike, but for me it's a 428cid. I love the low end grunt!

I used to go and watch a lot of racing at Knockhill in Perthshire,Scotland when i was a kid. There used to be the american classic event which i loved. With a good supension set-up,these cars handle really well.

        Re: Favourite tune

I have to agree with the sound of a well built v-8 with a well designed exhaust system. I am going to say my favorite is the four cylinder in my WRX of old. It was not your typical sounding high strung 4 banger with those potato gun sized pipes that sound like an angry hornet's nest lol. It is the Boxer configuration and I had a Borla cat-back system on it that was made with 2 1/2 inch stainless steel piping. At idle it had a very distinct sound. This sound is very hard to describe but it had a harley/cammed v8 sound to it. If you went to the rear of the car your could count the cylinder hits. This note was very aggressive sounding at idle to about 3500 rpm when the turbo came completely on line, then the note changed to a wail as all of the cylinders merged into one countinueous scream of pure aggression. If you have heard a WRX with a Borla then you know exactly what I am talking about.

There's a guy round here with a bike that sounds just like a V8.Every time i hear it,I see a shelby cobra in my head! He goes to quick,I can't get the chance to stop and talk to him.
