Good news the patients have expired on 3000 grit sand paper so Norton,Mirka and other Mfg will be releasing theirs which should help with the pricing. 3M was selling for $ 5.00 per sheet for trizac

Re: Patients expired
Not like a competitor couldn't had just changed the abrasive's rating prior? There's several other companies that offer sandpaper in the 2400, 3200, 3600 range. Not like 3000 is the magic number.South Florida & Metro Detroit's Leader in Vehicle Preservation & Perfect Paint Finishes

Re: Patients expired
Sorry, I don't believe it.
Like David said, grit# is just a size rating. It's not an "invention." I can't believe there are patents for a given rating.
Sure, you can patent a design, material or manufacturing process, but a size? Makes no sense.
Even one of the mentioned examples is wrong, companies other than Mirka already make P2000 abrasives (including 3M and Norton).
There's got to be a lot more to it. I'm sure something like the Trizact design or process is patented. But that's a whole different enchilada.
