  • San Antonio, SNOW !!!

We have 1/2 inch of snow here in San Antonio. All highways and businesses are closed.

Yeah, I'm sure everybody who lives up north is rolling their eyes at us.

    Oh yeah, GO SPURS !!!

Oh no we understand perfectly. That first 1/2 inch is the most dangerous. The other 14 1/2 inches is just to keep the car washes (shovel makers, snow blower manufacturers, snow removal firms and chiropractors) in business.

Whether 1/2 inch or one point, they're both important.

The snow isn't as much the issue as is the layer of ice underneath and much of our expressway system is elevated. Thing is, it'll melt and Sunday is back in the 60's.

I feel your pain. We got 14 1/2" the from Tuesday afternoon to 9 am on Wednesday. Throw in another 6" of lake effect snow between 9 and noon on Wednesday and 40-60 mph winds to blow it all around and you get 4-6 ft drifts. The town hired a local excavation company to use a wheel loader to clear a path for emergency vehicles around our subdivision. It took him 3+ hours to make a single machine width path around our subdivision - 1 mile. After everything was plowed, it took him another full day to push snow back to the curbs.

We regularly get snow but people here forget how to drive in it. I'm convinced that 95% of people that own SUVs and trucks should be in cars. SUVs and trucks give too much confidence to people that can't drive in the first place - making things a lot worse for them and the rest of us on the road. Of the dozens of the stuck vehicles I've seen since Tuesday, only 2 were cars.

I'm just north of Indy, and I have 4 inches of ice on my driveway and it won't budge! Good thing I put snow tires on the G8 this year. Otherwise, there is no way I would make it up the driveway. BTW, I agree about the SUV drivers.

Normally I like to keep the driveway clean to the pavement in the winter. I will consider myself lucky if I see pavement by March or April. Never been in an ice storm like this and it's far worse than snow!
