I did it a summer or two ago and was frankly unimpressed. First off, there's a ton of people(which I can deal with), next is that you hardly even drive the cars, and lastly is that lunch sucked! The courses are litteraly about 30 ft. long and don't really let you get a feal for the car. But...the one bright side was that they did let you drive a Corvette around a course that wasn't too bad. That was fun! But...they only let you drive the Corvettes one time while you're there. Hopefully you have better experience than I did because mine was

Thanks for sharing that with me. I am going to be there early Friday. I expect the rush during the weekend.

I will keep you posted on what happens.

I am signed up on the 11th. Hopefully it will be good. I did a Bmw one a while back, that was awsome. Really just going for the New Vette. They are going to regret letting me get behind the wheel of that thing. I have spent the last three weeks running canyons both tight and open, I am ready to terrify the poor gm employee that gets put with me. Also Looking forward to the gto and cobalt. Would never buy a cobalt, but have wanted to drive one for a while.

Where are they having it on the 11th?

I am going to attend the Pomona event, about 60 north of you.

I just did it err, uhm, well twice over the last weekend. I went out on Friday when the traffic was pretty low and you get a total of 3 laps in the high performance cars. I did two in the CTS-V and then talked the "coach" into a second lap in the C6. The CTS-V "coach" thanked me for being smooth and aggressive without being out of control. He commented that one guy got in the car and asked what the pedal in the middle was for. They see a lot and have pretty tough stomachs so don't think you're about to scare them unless you point it to a pole!

Some not so smart guy in a GTO decided that he was ready to go home and did a few smokey doughnuts and then powered out of it taking out about 2 dozen cones. He had a Police escort to the gate! For some odd and dumb reason, the GTO is placed on a track where it simply doesn't get to stretch its legs AT ALL. The new motor for '05 has done so much for that car and it seems to be much more than the 50 HP indicated.

Saturday was a completely different story. You only get a total of two laps in the performance cars, no ifs and or buts(except on my lap I ended up behind grandma and caught up to her about as fast as I made it to second gear). The lines are long and most of all it seems that NO ONE is there to actually drive a GM vehicle. The lines are for the competition. Outside of the Hummer and performance cars, the only lines that were GM cars were the Cobalt SS and the manual GTO. You could walk up to anything else and get right in. If you wanted to drive a BMW, Acura, MBZ and so forth you had to wait for 5-10 people in front of you to take their turns. NO FUN!

Go on Friday and go early or you wont really care for it at all. It's also lots of fun to drive the Hummers over an absolutely INSANE hill and down the other side!

I was able to go to an Auto Show in Motion event in Cleveland in late June, overall it was fun but not nearly as fun as I had hoped it would be. I will agree SpoiledMan, if you are going to go don't go on the weekend. I went on a Saturday the lines to drive everything other than the "performance cars" (the C6 and CTS-V, which we were limited to just one lap in one of the cars) were just too long. I believe it took on average 20 minutes to get into any of the cars I was interested in, and I never even tried to drive some like the GTO because I think it would have taken 45 minutes plus to get into one of those. And I also agree with zsoap, the course for the performance cars wasn't too bad, but the other courses at Cleveland were way too tight and conservative to really gauge anything about the driving dynamics of the car or have any real fun. One tip I will give you, if you have the chance to go for a ride in the C6 or CTS-V with one of the instructors do it. On all of the courses other than the Performance Course you drive either by yourself, with your family, your friends, and so on, but on the Performance Course you are teamed up with an event worker. I got to talk to the guy I was teamed up with on the Performance Course and found out that all of the Performance Course workers have a racing background, the guy I rode with had come up through karts, Formula Fords, IndyLights and he was a driving instructor at Barber. Anyway he took me for a hot lap in the C6 later in the day, I told him up front I wanted him to “scare me”, and I tell you what he took that car to limits on the closed course I could never dream of... it was a thrill. To be honest you can go to any almost dealership in the country and take most of the cars they have at the event out on a test drive and have infinitely more fun with them than you will have at the Auto Show In Motion, but if you have the chance to ride in the C6 or CTS-V with a professional driver it will make the trip worthwhile.

I can't thank you guys enough for sharing your experiances. I am not a wait in line guy!!

I thought about it all night and then read what I did this morning and decided it isn't worth wasting a good work Friday on so I think I will skip the event.

I have clients that owne z8s, c6 vettes, sl55, etc... and I get to drive those on occasion. HECK I GOT A BUILT 57 CHEVY! LOL!!!

Yeah but if you get caught driving on the street like I was at ASIM then you get a free pass to jail!
