What are you working on today? - Saturday August 27th, 2005

Since we have no class today at Meguiar's due to construction of our new training facilities, I preparing a Corvette for display at a Route 66 event coming up.

April's Corvette. April is also known as "The Vette Lady"

Here's a model of her car

This is a 1982 Special Edition with the original factory clear coat and graphics. The clear coat is not perfect but considering all the changes taking place in automotive coatings and the switch from single stage to basecoat/clear coat paints in the early 1980's it's actually still in very good condition.

My plan is to take a very gentle approach to this clear coat because of it's age and good condition.

    Hello all,

Well the weather has taken a turn for the worse so we are rained off as they say in the cricket world.

Mike did you get a PM I sent the other day?

I was gonna spend the day "bonding" with my truck (lol) not that it needed it, but it makes me happy to go over the door jams, and inner engine bay fenders and such, but... My girlfriend and I bought a puppy about 6 weeks ago and I ended up playing with him all day! lol! he is about 14 weeks old and is a long hairded Daschund, A.K.A Hotdog-dog.

It has been in the 100s all week. Right now it is 101 at 1:31pm.

So I will spend the day inside. I have business paper work to do later but right now I am working on my completely new web site. I should have it up in a few weeks.

Hurricane Katrina is messing up my work! I was supposed to be in Ft. Lauderdale this weekend, and now, one of my clients' boats, is upside down.

I just finished the egged black BMW (pictures later). Customer was very happy. Point of impact was not fixable, but everything else cleaned up nicely.

Now I'm working on a Celica GT that needs a lot of work. Thank goodness it's red (not black). I've almost done with the interior. Then starting the outside.

            As Joe said.....IT'S HOT OUTSIDE!

"Pimpin Up" the hot tub cover w/MEG'S NXT PROTECTANT! Sounds foolish but the cover is for a 500 gal. tub & costs $900+ to replace. Being 700' from the Atlantic Ocean 266' up on the highest point of the East Coast climatic abuse is an issue. NXT is the absolute best product I've used in it's venue. That's why it's on the 2nd cover 'cause the other products don't work, & the first cover didn't last. NXT resists salt water mist, rain & other outside deposits while continuing to produce that unmistakeable MEG'S reflective results. Thanx again MEG"S!

Mike, I remember that 'Vette when it was new in '82. Very nice unit. I worked on them @ GM Tech Training Center. Dual TBI units & other go fast goodies. Also took a spot repair module for fiberglass, graphics & color blending on same unit. It brings back some fond memories. OE survivors like that are so nice to see & work on. Wish I could join you. Enjoy!

I hear you on the heat Joe, it's over 100 degrees where I live and it's time to to take a break...

After it cools down we'll start in on the paint...

Am I missing something or did they put a typo on the packing for the diecast corvette? It says the C-4's final year, but the C-4's final year was 1996! C4 were from 1984 to 1996. (then ever made an '83). Actually for you corvette enthusists, my fathers car was at the 1996 or 1997 (can't remember) car isle in the tent as one of Chip Miller's 'Chip's Choice'. It was a 1996 Collector Edtion Lt4 (obviously 6 speed being they only overed the LT4 with a 6 speed on the collector edition) Convertible. He had everyone sign the hood, well underthe hood on the heat matt.

Dachsunds are great dogs! When I was growing up we raised 2 litters of them. Brings back a lot of good memories.

I painted the rear bumper on the Caddy today. If dry tomorrow, I will do a write up on the color sanding and rub out.

I was going to do some spot detailing on the wife's mini-van, but I decided to go whole hog at the last minute.

Spent about 11 hours outside (doing the paint mostly) today. Actually, I worked on the hood a little late yesterday too.

After wash & clay, I used #82, followed by NXT, followed by man on a scooter ranting on & on about how good it looked (Thank You Sir!), followed by beauty shots at the end of the day.

Been a good day for the most part.

                              Nice Vett Mike!
