  • Water based paint

I was in a car painting discussion with a co-worker and he said that there is a new product that is acrylic resin that uses water as the carrying agent instead of the urethane using solvent as the carrying agent. Supposely it takes half the paint and supposely is as good or better than the conventional paint job. Has anyone heard of this? If so would Meg's products work the same on it? I'm getting ready to paint my beater work car and may have to try this system. This is the only info I know about this now, I'll try to find more. Thanks.

I guess water-borne OEM finishes are pretty common due to environmental regulations. You're not seeing them as much in re-spray finishes yet but they're out their, notably BASF (the Germans are really into being green).
