Tim did a wonderful job hosting tonights festivities and, although I don't recall seeing a camera in sight, I do believe there was good learnin' going on all around.

I was given some expert guidance on applying #7 and I must say, when done correctly that product is a piece of cake to apply and remove. I've read so many 'Help!! #7" threads in the past so I had some trepidation about using it. Not anymore. I'm taking some time on Friday to give my PT Cruiser the full treatment.

Meguiar's just plain rocks. I continue to be flat out impressed that this company opens up their garage to let us all drop in and play on a regular basis. Thanks!!!

When it comes to applying #7 it's just like any product or procedure,

      technique, technique, technique...

What was the technique you learned tonight for applying and removing #7 Show Car Glaze?

I'm glad everyone had a good time. It seems like right when we start working and really get going class is over. Oh well, there always next time. Sorry about not having any pictures folks. Our camera was being used for another event. We will be sure to have it for next time.

Well that wasn't very nice of me now, was it?

            OK, here's what I learned:

With a foam High Tech Applicator Pad work the product into a section (I did 1/4 of the hood of my PT Cruiser at a time) using only moderate pressure. You aren't scrubbing here, but you do want a nice, uniform, thin coat of #7 laid down. Continue working it until you feel it just start to skin up. At first it will just glide on under the applicator, but once it starts to skin you feel it immediately as the pad will start to drag.

            Stop.

It's time to remove #7 now. Remember, this is a polish, not a wax, so you don't want to let it dry/haze. In fact, with #7, you really don't want to let it haze! Removal is a two step process: using a microfiber towel wipe the applied area, but don't wipe in such a manner as to remove all the product. After the initial wipe, now you immediately follow with a second wipe to remove the remaining product. Give it light buff and you're done. Move on to the next section.

I applied very little pressure to both apply and remove #7 and although I did not tape off a section, you could clearly see where it had been applied. Only the hood was done last night, but I anticipate doing the entire car will actually be less work than applying and removing old school carnauba wax by hand.

Honestly, I was expecting #7 to be a chore given what I've read here and elsewhere, but it really was quite simple to use and the results are just beautiful. Sorry, no camera in sight last night so no pictures. I'll be doing the whole car tomorrow and should be able to post some images then.

            Hope that helps!

Sorry, no pics from me either, but I had a great time seeing where all the good stuff comes from, and trying out some new products. Thanks to the Meguiars guys for trying to help a Canadian get some products, but something backfired, and the package will be delivered after I leave California. On a plus side, the customer service guys were GREAT, and came up with a few solutions for me. It's great to see such excellent cust. service.

See you all next time I'm in California.
