I just bought a 1962 chevy and would like to know the proper way to clean and detail the motor compartment under the hood?

Cover the distributor, air intake, and anything else that you don't want water creeping into. Then use a light spray of water and your choice of degreaser and have at it with a brush. Just make sure the degreaser is safe for the type of metals found under your hood. For example, some degreasers don't do well with aluminum. So if you have aluminum valve covers, etc., don't get it on them or use a different degreaser. Common sense goes a long way when cleaning under the hood of any vehicle, new or old. Good luck and post before and after pictures please.
