And we're ready to start!

I thought you guys were headed to Meguiar's this morning!! I passed this group on the northbound 5 FWY near Lake Forest around 7:15 this morning on my way to Cars & Coffee. The yellow Mustang shown here was the lead car on the road at the time. I knew you guys had a session scheduled so when I saw a group of black Mustangs traveling together at that time I figured you had to be on your way to Meguiar's.

Heres some pictures I took today...sorry for the different sizes, apparently I changed the resolution sometime during the day.

Here's everybody in the morning before we headed in for the beginning of the PowerPoint presentation.
http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/photopost/data/647/medium/For_MOL_5_.jpg (http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/photopost/showphoto.php/photo/6377)

During the PowerPoint we took a break for some soda and to stretch out a little. We also went and found a car to work on during the garage portion, lets just say we found a perfect demonstration car.

We finished the PowerPoint presentation and class portion of the day and took a break for some great pizza as always.

After the food, we went out and checked over the demonstration car one more time and compared it to Yoshi's flawless Mustang. Today was also a very large class, 35 on hand.

Of course we have to document the swirls as well...

Remember our demonstration car with all the swirls, well here is Yoshi's black Mustang, look at the depth, reflection and flawless finish.

For today's demonstration car, Mike used these products...
Smooth Surface™ Clay Kit (http://www.meguiars.com/?auto-detailing-clay/Smooth-Surface-Clay-Kit)
ScratchX® (http://www.meguiars.com/?auto-paint-cleaners/ScratchX)
Deep Crystal® System Polish (http://www.meguiars.com/?car-polishes/Deep-Crystal-System-Polish)
NXT Generation Tech Wax® (http://www.meguiars.com/?liquid-car-waxes/NXT-Generation-Tech-Wax)

First we clayed the car to remove above surface containments and prepare the surface for a wax.

Then Mike used Scratch-X, applying 3 times to the paint. With this product, put the product on the end of the pad because that's where your going to be working in the product, the tip of your fingers.

Spread the product out in a circle motion, then begin working in different directions.

After the application of Scratch-X 3 times and Deep Crystal Polish, Mike applied NXT Tech Wax 2.0. Notice that you can't really see anything? That's because you only need 2 thin coats of wax, not 1 big thick coat.

Moving on to the DA...I didn't get many pictures from here on, my camera was running low on battery's.

Here's Mike covering cleaning your pad on the fly...

Notice the dark circle where Mike's hand is, thats product coming off the pad.

Here are some of the cars that were on hand today...I'm not sure who's is who's or what club they belong to, but here they are.

And some random pictures...

Another great day at Meguiar's and a sunny day in So Cal!!

Thanks to you and Meguiar's for another great class, even though I have been to three classes I always find them informative and learn something new. The new DA100 looks like a winner and I ordered a couple to try in our detail shops. And we can't wait to try the M105. Hope to see you soon again in the advance classes.

Mike, I would like to say Thank You for the class yesterday. This class is a must for anybody that has made the decision for take personal care of their vehicle or start into the craft of detailing cars. I recently purchased a G100 along with several products. Now I have the correct techniques to use the equipment and products effectively. I would like to say Thank You to Meguiar's for the commitment to not only selling great products but actually providing the education to correctly use them in the real world.

As a side note it would appear that I didn't chop any heads off in the pictures (Whew)

Thanks again, Chris

I can't thank Mike and Meguiars enough. I know a lot goes into these Saturday clinics and that tells me a lot about a company that stands behind it's products and it's dedication to teach the right technics to use them properly.

Mike has that special gift to explain the processes and makes it easy to understand. I too have been to a few of Mike's classes and I always come back with more info that I had missed.

The pizza this time was exceptionally good and the goodie bag is well appreciated. :bigups

A big thanks to Mike and Meguiars for a very informative and interesting class. I definitely learned what I need to know to care properly for my car now, and rest assured I'll be using Meguiars. :-)

OMG this event was awesome, I just started cleaning out my garage with all these other imitation cleaners.. I am definitely going to continue using Mequiar's. Being an Navy Instructor, this presentation was performed in a very professional manner. I would definitely recommend this course for everyone. Thank You Very Much.

Here are pictures I took of the events.

)Thank you Mike and Meguiars for having these classes. I learned a great deal and affirmed what I already knew about Meguiars products. Not to put any ideas in anybody's head but I would have paid good money for that class...

I want to thank San Diego Black Mustangs for making this possible for us owners of Mustangs, especially the black ones(though I am not a club member). Just for the record(because Mike said so), the flawless finish Mustang is mine....can you tell I am a proud owner!!!

Jan 20th, 2008, 08:17 PM
Thanks first to bmc for posting this class. Second, thanks to mike for explaining the processes in terms that we all could understand. I will be back soon cause it was alot of information to absorb in one day. Pizza was really good. I had some idea how to get a glossy finish but was not confident enough to actually get it done correctly. I now need to get some da to get the job done right.

At the risk of repeating myself: It was a real treat to be in that class, to have the opportunity to join other eager, dedicated Mustangers in learning the whats, wherefores, and hows of top-drawer detail work, and to appreciate the welcoming, productive atmosphere. An experience every automobile enthusiast should seek and enjoy.

I have heard Barry Meguiar is the happiest man around; plenty of justification for that in having people like Mike and products like the "consumer" and "professional" lines in his corner. Congratulations to him, and to the Meguiars chemists: Good choices all around!

(After reading the whole thread, I must agree with all the other posts, and thank those who put up pictures: good eyes!)

Hello, Mike.

I enjoyed the detailing class. Your demonstration showing "a thin layer" of was very helpful. I had been applying and wasting so much wax. I appreciate the free gift of Ultimate Quik Detailer (wish a microfiber towel could have been included).

I bought some Meguiar's products to clean, polish, and wax the car. The towels in the store (not Meguiar's brand) were smaller and not as plush as the ones used in class. In one of the stores I overheard a salesclerk tell another customer that in his opinion Meguiar's is the best wax. Both that customer and I bought Meguiar's Gold Class wax.

I would like to take this opportunity to compliment the great customer service from:

John, telephone on December 21, 2007
Rick McDonough, email on January 14, 2008
Thank you.

I went into this class wondering about a lot of hints/tips that other forums and people have told me ever since I have been detailing my car. This class eliminated all of the numerous myths that people hear about when they detail their cars.

Because of this class I purchased a G110 along with several of the products used during the class. I feel I now can use the equipment and products effectively.

Thank You Meguiar's and Mike for providing a class to educate users and non users of their product. When a company goes above and beyond like you did it really shows a committment to a quality product and that you truly appreciate your customers. I'll be recommending Meguiars.

Jan 21st, 2008, 06:16 PM
Seems like you guys had lots of fun

Jan 21st, 2008, 07:24 PM
I wish Irvine, CA was a little closer to western Kentucky. I would love to attend one of those classes. I recently purchased several of Meguiars products, including a DA, and am anxious to use all of them, especially the correct way. Are the classes ever held anywhere else? Maybe Meguiars should have a drawing each month for a paid trip out to their facility to take a class or two. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Jan 22nd, 2008, 06:37 PM
I agree with all the positive feedback. I still can't believe all of that was free. Meguiars has found a customer for life here:) A lot of my unknows were answered. I just ordered my DA and supplies a few minutes ago. I'm going to be counting down they day till my shipment arrives. Thanks for the goodie bag, it allowed me to start early before shipment day. Even more thanks for all the yummy treats. You were right I sure did not walk away hungry.

I'm not very quick at "developing" my digital photos, but here's what I think is worthwhile (after the wonderful class, of course!) from last Saturday:

Most are of a size to make decent 6x4s. If you see something you'd like larger, I might be able to put up a larger file.

Jan 25th, 2008, 03:19 AM

The bags were all different. Everyone got a bottle of UCD. Mine had a tin of Mag & Aluminum polish. Others had bottles of wheel cleaner and tire spray, plus catalogs for consumer and professional products.

Mine contained that kind of thing plus a serving of plastic cleaner (for headlights, etc). Several included terry applicators and like that; no microfiber that I saw, but a few got tech wax..

Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
