Nine Cars from Nine Different Countries will be on Display Near Meguiar’s Car Crazy Stage November 1 -4, 2011

For the first time ever, top show cars from around the world will be on display at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA Show) held Nov. 1-4 in Las Vegas.

For over 30 years, Meguiar’s (producer of Car Crazy TV and Meguiar’s Car Wax) has been actively building and supporting the Car Hobby all over the world. Out of thousands of Car Shows in over 90 countries, the owners of nine of the top show cars in the world accepted Meguiar’s invitation to display their cars at SEMA, which will be brought in from across the globe by Passport Transport (http://www.passporttransport.com/).

These cars will be on display, front and center, outside the Convention Hall beside the SEMA Car Crazy TV Stage. Throughout the four days of the show, the car owners will be a major attraction along with their cars, providing insight into the Car Hobby in their respective countries.

“The Car Hobby is a global fraternity that shares an amazingly consistent passion for vastly different cars,” says Meguiar’s President Barry Meguiar. “We attempt to capture this phenomenon with our Car Crazy TV Show on SPEED Channel, and now we are doing it live at SEMA. Having nine cars for our first year is a great start on what we believe will become a major feature at the SEMA Show.”

The number of quality show cars that capture the essence and excitement of the car hobby is staggering. Meguiar’s was determined to keep this an authentic program by having the local automotive aficionados lead in the selection process. Additionally, cars chosen to represent specific countries had to capture the overall global car hobby spirit by exciting car enthusiasts of all types, reflect incredible paintwork that is maintained both inside and out, include ground breaking design or be exceptionally eye-catching and most importantly, have a unique back story.

While the showcase is focused on providing a unique look at the car hobby in these nine countries, the cars on display are certain to attract some serious attention. Some of the treasures that are set to be on display include a 1953 Ford Truck F100 from Costa Rica, a 1981 Mk1 VW Golf from the U.K., a 1939 Lincoln Zephyr Custom from Mexico, a 2000 Toyota Celica from China, and a 1978 XC GS Ford Falcon Hardtop coming all the way from Australia.

Before making their way to the SEMA Show, the cars will stop at the famed Marconi Automotive Museum (http://www.marconimuseum.org/)in Tustin, Calif. for private showings to museum visitors during the month of October.

As the cars arrive in the US and head to the Marconi Automotive Museum in Tustin, CA, we'll make sure and introduce you to these cool cars from across the globe in this thread!

Cool! Will Ford/Meg team be detailing these at the show, or just keeping the dust off?

The second car in our Car Crazy Int'l Showcase has arrived this morning. This modified Mazda RX-7 comes to us from north of the border this time - Canada.

Fresh off the truck, still riding high on it's airbag suspension.

That's more like it! Properly laid down on the bags.

The paint scheme is a fairly subtle dark gray/darker gray two tone that is more or less noticeable depending on the ambient lighting. This gives a better idea of how that paint scheme plays out.

More cars still to come next week, and we're still looking for some local folks to help out with final prep on these vehicles before they head out to Las Vegas for SEMA.

Now, I reallllly like that Mazda!

Here's the latest arrival, air freighted in from Brazil. This is a 1971 Furia race car, powered by Alfa Romeo. Only 5 of these prototypes were built in Brazil and this is one of 2 that have been restored.

Two more cars arrived today - one delivered directly to the Marconi Museum and the other to our offices where it's undergoing a bit of airbrush touch up due to some minor damage in transport.

From Sweden, a stunning Dodge Charger:

From China, the Spiderman car:

Notice how the colors go much darker on this side, to reflect the whole dark side of Spiderman as depicted in Spiderman 3

Oct 20th, 2011, 03:11 PM
All the cars are B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!!! Such amazing craftsmanship. These cars should be considered art.

That Charger is really mouth-watering... Not to mention the supercharger sticking out of the hood.

Some shots from our first day of detailing, including three more arrivals!

Yes, this is a single seat, center driving position Honda Civic!

Time Warp. A VW Golf Diesel from the UK with an interior that looks like it did the day the car rolled out of the factory in the 1980s!.

The last of the International Showcase Cars has arrived. Fresh off the boat from Australia comes this gorgeous custom '78 Ford Falcon.

A bit of a tight squeeze both side to side and underneath.

Two tone silver - matte on the hood and along the shoulder line, and gloss everywhere else.

Look at all that aluminum fabrication on the interior!

Oh my!

Prettiest fuel cell ever!

While the owners of the Falcon were getting it sorted following several weeks of shipping, we set to work finishing off the Dodge Charger from Sweden. It was loaded with holograms and still had some sanding marks, but we got it all cleaned up.

This is the reflection on the trunk lid.

Now that's what we like to see!

Finished off with Ultimate Wax paste for the ultimate shine.

That black Charger has got to be my favorite!!! It looks bad-***!! The black paint is polished to perfection and UPW really made it go up a notch. I really love UPW on black!!!

The car had not been touched at that time ( fresh out of the box). There is a open house on Thursday and I am sure there will be pics at that point.

OK, I didn't forget about your request, Davey, but as you can see from Bob's pix above it was pretty dark in the museum last night. The car is being shipped to Las Vegas as I type this, and I'll see it again at SEMA next week. At that time it will be outside in the Nevada sunshine and should look spectacular. More pix then, I promise.
