so he told me he does not want wax on it cause a friend said wax was bad for it. its a travel trailer 2006,, smooth flat siding . i have never done one with a da, the last one i did was a year ago and by hand with meg cleaner wax for cars. so what product should i use with megs pads? the oxidization is mild. thanks guys!!!

You could use Cleaner Wax, ColorX or even M66 Quik Detailer. Judging by its size, we would probably recommend M66. Using a DA , the best pad choice would be W8207 polishing pad!

Andrew's response is great if you're looking for just a quick one step to freshen things up a bit. Yes, all three of his recommendations are, technically, waxes but we have to say that the owner's aversion to wax on this RV is unwarranted. In fact, whether gel coat or paint, a wax is only going to help with the shine and protection and have zero downside. All three of these products are readily available and perfectly suitable for either a gel coat or painted finish. We're thinking this is probably a gel coat though, right? If so, and depending on the level of oxidation and the owner's expectations, you might need to step up to something like M44 Color Restorer from our Marine/RV line. You could follow that up with M45 to add more gloss, but as you probably know a pure polish like M45 is not going to last long if it's the last thing you apply. A good wax, like Flagship Premium Marine Wax is highly recommended.

Any chance we can get a picture or two of the rig and it's condition?

no its located 30 minutes away from me so i dont have any. so i know he doesn't want wax so should i use a cleaner wax like m50 or m66 then?? is there a big difference between this two products?

or should try m44 if needed then one of the cleaner wax????

Gel coat can respond very differently than paint does - it's a lot harder and a lot more porous than automotive paint.

A test spot or two is going be critical to determining which product/process is going to get you the results desired by the customer in the shortest amount of time. We'd suggest doing a 2' x 2' area with M50 Cleaner Wax and then another spot next to it with M44 and see which looks best, is easiest to deal with, etc. We are very hesitant to continue avoiding the use of a wax on this rig, however, as gel coat is very prone to oxidation and a good wax will help to protect the finish. The customer may have heard about some automotive waxes turning white gel coat a bit yellow, and that can happen if you use an automotive wax. Not always, but it is possible. Stick with either M50 or Flagship Premium Marine Wax and you won't have that problem.

I worked on a friends trailer. It was pretty scratched up and he wanted it cleaned up. I used Ultimate Compound on it, Da, yellow polishing pad. Turned out quite nice.

ok so does m44 have more of a bite to it then m50?
im wondering if i need to order both or should i get some thing with more cut incase its needed, the supplier here doesn't care the rv/marine line of stuff.
after i wash it what should be my process ,,, m50,, polish,, and then wax if i can inform/ persuade him :lolol:

Yes, M44 is a dedicated cleaner so it's a definite step up from M50 Cleaner Wax.

As far as process goes, if your client is adamant about not wanting a wax, then you're best bet is probably going to be M44 Color Restorer followed by M45 High Gloss Polish. But he needs to be aware that any correction you perform is not going to last as long with just M45 as it would with a proper wax as the final product.

In all honesty we would most likely go after this with either M44 Color Restorer or M49 Oxidation Remover (depending on condition of the rig and the customer's expectations) and then finish it with Flagship Premium Marine Wax. We'd seriously try to convince the owner than his friend is just plain wrong. And from your perspective, the job will be done faster and better with this process than if you did M50, M45 and a wax.
