Hi, Mike

Please excuse my poor manners...

I don't know how to get into the moderators forum to see what the answer is about over pricing overseas so I started this thread for you.

I fail to see that the thread was getting nasty, all we wanted were a few answers to our most important questions and no one was having a personal go at you.

It is your Australian Supplier that insinuated that Meguiars charged more for exported product and said that their profit was higher etc.

We don't need to know your wholesale price, but we do need to be convinced that we are not all being ripped off.

Personally, given that you closed the thread without any convincing argument, I will ask the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to investigate the abnormal pricing at least in Australia and I suggest all other complainant's do the same with their equivalent Govt. department.

From a customers point, it appears that you have no control on your distributors outside of the USA.

This forum is supplied by Meguiars as a PR exercise to promote product, if difficult questions are asked that are not helpful to Meguiars do they just can them?

I don't expect this topic to stay around too long, however,

PLEASE, give us a fair go!

HI oldsalt,

First of all, I can take the heat, anyone that's been on any detailing forum for any length of time knows that.

Second of all, apparently you didn't read my last reply to the thread, so allow me to repost it here for you to read. Please read it carefully, as I think I did a pretty good job of explaining why I was closing the thread.

I felt it was a legit question. We have an answer from an importer and they are saying one of the reasons they charge so much is because of what Megs USA charges them. If thats true everybody who is complaining about their local Megs is complaining about the wrong thing. If Megs Australia is getting charged very high prices it would explain why they charge the prices they do. Same for Canada and Asia etc.

No Mike I don't know of another company that will give that info out. But they are not charging the same prices as Megs either and thats what people are complaining about.

You know in the beginning of this thread, I stated that I don't know very much about distribution and marketing... nothing has changed since I posted that.

If you want to know how to use ScratchX, or how long to wait till you wipe off ColorX, then I can answer those questions. As for all of the other questions in this thread, I don't have answers, but I have shared the link with others at Meguiar's.

At the time I'm writing this, it's Sunday evening, tomorrow is a National Holiday, nobody is in the office and I'll be everyone is doing what I would like to do and that is to take some time off to relax and spend time with my family. It's not healthy to work 7 days a week.

I'm not going to remove this thread, but I am going to close it till Tuesday, if you want to add anything to what's already been said, type it up in Notepad and save it till Tuesday. Any threads started to bypass the closing of this thread will be deleted and the forum member will lose posting privileges at least temporarily.

My son is 6 years old and he wants daddy to help him build a fort, so being that it's Sunday, a day of rest for many people, including myself, I don't want to continue babysitting this thread for the rest of the night and all day tomorrow. Consider this thread closed till Tuesday, May 31st.

Thank you everyone for your feedback.

Please enjoy the rest of your Sunday evening and if you and/or your employer recognizes Memorial Day as a holiday, then please enjoy tomorrow also.

Mike Phillips

Third of all, I don't know what time it is where you are right now but it's almost 1:00am where I'm at and not only is it Sunday, a day of rest for some people and a chance to spend time with their families, it's also a Holiday weekend here in the states and nobody is in the office. I'm typing this from home.

I also added this to the last post in that thread,

if you want to add anything to what's already been said, type it up in Notepad and save it till Tuesday. Any threads started to bypass the closing of this thread will be deleted and the forum member will lose posting privileges at least temporarily

So it appears as though you have banned yourself by arguing with an Admin here on Meguiar's Online, (That would be me)

That was your mistake, now you've banned yourself.

I fail to see that the thread was getting nasty, all we wanted were a few answers to our most important questions and no one was having a personal go at you.

I did my best to explain to you that I don't have the answers, nobody that does have the answer will be at work till Tuesday as tomorrow is a National Holiday, and this forum is for discussing Meguiar's products and process, it's not your personal sounding board to rant and rave.

It is your Australian Supplier that insinuated that Meguiar's charged more for exported product and said that their profit was higher etc.

See my reply above about how this isn't my area of expertise, this forum is a sounding board for you to rant and rave, and the purpose of this forum is to discuss products and process, not marketing, distribution and politics.

Personally, given that you closed the thread without any convincing argument,

This of course is your opinion and your entitled to you own opinion, but now you went and banned yourself.

I will ask the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to investigate the abnormal pricing at least in Australia and I suggest all other complainant's do the same with their equivalent Govt. department.

oldsalt,

You've been a member for less than 30 days, you have 11 posts,

8 of them to complain about prices,
2 of them to complain you haven't received your bonnets
1 of them to add something positive to the community.

And now you choose to escalate the situation because you're don't have the answers you want and you don't have them when you want them.

From a customers point, it appears that you have no control on your distributors outside of the USA.

Again... let me say that this my area of expertise, this forum is a sounding board for you to rant and rave, and the purpose of this forum is to discuss products and process, not marketing, distribution and politics.

This forum is supplied by Meguiar's as a PR exercise to promote product,

That's an untrue statement. This forum is not an exercise in public relations, it's a resource for people to ask for help in getting the best results from their time, money and efforts.

Again,

oldsalt,

You've been a member for less than 30 days, you have 11 posts,

8 of them to complain about prices,
2 of them to complain you haven't received your bonnets
1 of them to add something positive to the community.

You need to spend more time reading the replies by myself and other forum members and you will see detailed how to information being posted everyday, and usually you will see the recipients of the information come back and say, thank you. The point being Meguiar's Online is a forum that offers quality information, not as you suggest, a simple PR exercise.

b[] if difficult questions are asked that are not helpful to Meguiar's do they just can them?[/b]

We have no history of doing that on this forum.

Now before we go on, I'd like to add this,

Recently, we had a person join MOL for what appears to be the sole purpose of causing strife, here's what I wrote to him,

Most people that join a forum like this do so for one of two reasons, sometimes both,
To ask questions in an effort to learn more about proper car care
To help others with their experience and expertise
After posting this to his thread, we have never seen, nor heard from him again. He didn't join to help others, he didn't join to obtain help for himself, he joined to cause problems.

That said, it will be interesting to see if you're here to contribute in a positive manner, helping others to get the best results from their time, money and efforts, or to ask questions in an attempt to bring your own skills to a higher level.

Which person are you oldsalt?

I don't expect this topic to stay around too long, however,

PLEASE, give us a fair go!

I did give you a fair go oldsalt, the thread was getting rude and nasty and there is no reason for it. I asked everyone to wait till Tuesday when I would re-open the thread and if you had something you wanted to add, to write it in another text editor and save it, and then post it on Tuesday.

I explained it's Sunday, (at least at the time I closed the thread, it's now 1:38am Monday morning), and that many people including myself who work long hours all week long, like to take Sunday off and spend quality time with their families, some of us even go to church.

I explained that here in the United States, we recognize Memorial day as a National Holiday and many people have the last Monday of May off from their employers, Meguiar's is one such company that provides this benefit.

And further more, the topic of the closed thread is not my area of expertise, I don't have the answers for you and nobody that does will likely want to help you because of the way you have acted through your words.

I went on to say that if you started another post relating to this, you will have effectively banned yourself, which you have done. Now you have no effect at all, was that your goal, to have no effect at all?

And above all those things, this forum is for the purpose of discussion products and process, not distribution and marketing overseas.

Meguiar's Online has been up for about a year and a half an in that time only three people have banned themselves by breaking forum rules. This record is not too bad by most peoples standards. You are the forth person to ban yourself. I did my best to caution you in the closed thread but you didn't take the time to read and understand the reasoning behind what I posted.
