First Saturday Detailing 101 Class of 2017 off to a good start! Today's demonstration car was this Lexus IS which had been newly purchased by one of the class attendants.

It has seen better days to say the least!

First we used our Ultimate Waterless Wash & Wax (formerly Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere) to remove all the loose contaminants on the paint. Even though we typically only work on the hood of the vehicle, we still will wipe down the front bumper, & two front panels. In case someone leans over on the paint accidentally when using the DA, there is a clean paint surface instead of a dirty one.

After washing it of course needed to be clayed. We applied our Smooth Surface Clay Kit a couple times to ensure all contaminants were removed.

Back out into the sun for some more before pictures. Ouch!

Next we explained the differences in the typical "Paint Polishing Tools," talked about our MT300 Dual Action Polisher and our Soft Buff DA Foam Discs.

We did a test spot with our Ultimate Compound, DFC5, on MT300 DA, 5800 OPMS. Our initial test spot was 4 section passes, horizontal & vertical overlapping 50% in a 2 ft square area, moderate pressure, moderate arm speed. We ended up switching to 5 section passes per area, to provide a little more cut to each section.

Starting to make some progress with Ultimate Compound.

We then got the attendants hands on our DA.

After the compound step, there was some noticeable haze in the black paint. We follow Ultimate Compound with our Ultimate Polish on a DFP5 Soft Buff DA Foam Polishing Disc, at 4800 OPMs, completing 4 section passes. This combination easily removed the DA Haze & provided a deep high gloss. Next we put a coat of our Ultimate Liquid Wax on.

Next was our new Ultimate Fast Finish! Ultimate Fast Finish is now Meguiar's most advanced, best protecting, & longest lasting synthetic polymer based protection we offer, providing an entire year's worth of protection. Not only is Ultimate Fast Finish all of these things, it is also our fastest way to apply protection to a vehicle. Application is in form of an aerosol can, which the user sprays a small amount directly onto the included Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel, a couple quick wipes, flip to the dry side to ensure even coverage, and that's it! There are two different ways Ultimate Fast Finish can be used. It is a wax, so it can absolutely be used by itself, after claying, after compound, or polish, etc. It can also be used to top your existing LSP. Ultimate Fast Finish provides great gloss, but if you are looking to get the absolutely best results, we recommend using one of our liquid or paste waxes first, like Gold Class, NXT Tech Wax 2.0, or Ultimate Paste Wax, and then applying Ultimate Fast Finish. If used in this manner, it would be best to apply Ultimate Fast Finish a full 12 - 24 hours apart from your traditional liquid or paste wax application.

Now outside for some sun shots. Not bad for a 14 year old car! Thanks to everyone for coming out! Feel free to share your comments!

im surprised the DAMF system wasn't used. Clearly the foam cutting pad removed 95% of the defects which again shows the importance of a test spot! Nice results
