Leather Cleanning

I think dirty leather cleanning is not easy even use G-11116 or 11016. (G-7214, M4501) ....

I used only microfiber towel... is there better tools or using way?

What kind of car are you working on? This will help determine the product recommendation. When was the leather last cleaned and conditioned?

May process for coated leather would be:
1. Vaccuum seat or leather surface
2. Wipe seat or leather surface down with a damp cloth.
3. Wipe seat or leather surface off with a dry cloth.
4. Apply leather cleaner to damp cloth. (conditioning comes later)(Cleaner conditioner product can be used a maintenence product once leather is clean)
5. Rub damp cloth with leather cleaner on one section of seat at time.
6. Wipe rubbed area with clean damp cloth.
7. Repeat above steps until wipe cloth stops showing dirt.
If this to time consuming try using a soft brush or finger nail brush to apply leather cleaner to one section at time. Do not use pressure.
8. Continue to next section.
Once all leather has been cleaned:
9. Apply conditioner to clean towel
10. Rub towel with conditioner to all cleaned sections.
11. Allow leather conditioner time to absorb into leather, then wipe off excess.

If I use brush that made by horse hair during the cleaning of leather?
Still leather is not clean when I use cleaner with damp cloth.
What is best cloth for rubbing for cleaning?

Sounds like you are having a problem with dirt in the creases and crevices of the leather.

A brush with horse hair bristle should work just fine. Any soft bristle brush should work.
Meguiars offer a couple of brushes which would help you out.

Set of brushes. The small brush on the right is a leather brush.

Another option is the Palm brush from Meguiars.

If you can not find these brushes from meguiars locally, you could order from meguiars, but I think shipping would make this prohibitive. So try a shoe/leather repair for the leather brush and Wal-Mart type store for the palm brush.


When using the brush follow the same directions listed above, but subsitute, the brush for the cloth during the cleaning process. Once the leather is clean, and dirt is out of the creases, maintain with a leather cleaner conditioner. Also, clean the leather every six (6) months with a pure leather cleaner.

Just to add a very slight amount of information to Teak's excellent 'how-to'...

Use a warm damp cloth... that will help to open some of the pores in the clearcoating on the leather as well as the leather itself thus enabling you to get more grime out of the places that it matters the most... the pores.
