Not sure I understand....to utilize the quick change velcro system with the G100, do you need separate backing plates for each pad?

no you don't its a velcro backing plate so you just connect the velcro on the pad to the backing plate

The Soft Buff velcro buffing pads we provide can be used with one velcro packing plate. The velcro makes it easy to detach the pads to avoid removing the backing plate every time you would need to change the pad.
