  • Vinyl Convertable top.. what to use?

So Im about to wrap up a detail job on my dads VW Bug and it has a brand new white vinyl convert. top on it. Theres already a couple spots that could use some cleaning. Thing is... I want to clean it but I dont have any dedicated products for that type of thing.

What should I use? Soapy water and toothbrush? Diluted simple green with tooth brush?

Anything special I can use on this? What have you used in the past?

    Thanks in advance.

Do not use Simple Green. I try to avoid it.

You could use something like All-Purpose Cleaner, and follow up with an exterior dressing like Hyper Dressing or All-Season Dressing.

However, you can also look into the Marine Line, as there are some Vinyl Cleaners and Conditioners in there as well.

I personally wouldn't recommend anything other than "Raggtopp".

If it is Vinyl use #39 as a cleaner and the #40 to protect. If it is cloth I use RaggTopp

I agree Ragg Topp IMO sells the best convertible top products. However, if you have #39 & #40 you could get away with using those products. #40 probably wouldn't last too long on the outside of a car though.

Thanks guys.. I ended up just using a mild soapy water with a soft tooth brush. The whole thing wasnt dirty, just a few very small areas.

In the future try our Marine/RV Canvas Cleaner and Protectant.

Use the Canvas Cleaner #71 along with a brush clean and spary on the #72 Canvas Protectant to seal the top
