A newbie (me) just made a mistake trying to polish the hood of my 97 Jaguar XJ6. The hood has very bad water spots along with a cloudy looking clear coat. I do not yet have a PC or G100. I tried (foolishly, as I now know) using M01 by hand and ended up with rather mixed results. In the areas I applied heavy pressure I ended up with a hazy finish. On areas where I used little pressure I ended up with marring and scratching.
I followed this with new formula M02 and then M09. I was able to get rid of the hazing but could not get rid of the scratches. The M09 left a brilliant shine but I could still see faint water spots under the shine. After 2 or 3 days the water spots became more prominent. After browsing the forum I now know I should have used clay and should not have used M01.
If I invest in a PC or G100 and the appropriate foam pads should I be able to remove the marring/scratching with M02/M83/M80/Mxx ? Or am I going to have employ the services of a pro with a rotary buffer?
