  • Purchasing a Hitachi SP18VA ..

I was wondering.. I already have an assortment of Megs 6" pads and needed to know what other items I need to purchase?

The tool is from Coastal Tool and comes with a 7" (I think) hook and loop backing pad. Should I buy bigger pads or should I get a smaller backing plate so itll be compatible with my Megs pads?

I also seen some of you guys using an extention on your rotaries... where can I get that?

    Thanks in advance!

Get the 6.5 pad from ADS, the one that comes with the Hiatchi is bigger then the 6.5 pads themselves and are next to impossible to use with this, IMO.

    Are you ordering from CoastalTool?

Personally, between rotaries, I dont know. From what Ive read here its deffinately comparable. Ive heard retail prices are are very similar.

I do know that we sell all those brands of tools at my work... we sell more Dewalt than anything but thats because we push it 10xs harder.

There are a few people here at my work that swear Hitachi is a great high end brand, as far as contruction tools go, and that I wont be dissapointed with a Hitachi tool. No matter what it is or what its for.

Oh yeah.. Hitachi has a 5yr manufacturer warranty.

I find the Mikati and Hitachi similar in every regard except two...

            1) The Hitachi can be had for much less...

            2) The Hitachi has a better warrenty

The DeWalt just seems heavy to me...
