Erwin brought down his black Audi filled with rotary buffer swirls, also called, holograms from his own attempts to create a swirl-free finish using a rotary buffer! Now a rotary buffer is a great tool and correctly used can remove swirls and other defects in the paint, but it does require a little training and experience to get good results, especially on black paint.

Here's some before pictures of the finish on the hood of his car and the driver's front fender.

Here we spend a little time going over how to use detailing clay and then after that we taught Erwin how to use the G100 Dual Action Polisher to [b]machine clean and polish[/b[ the swirls out of his car's finish.

After Erwin finished working the finish over with some M80 Speed Glaze and then removing NXT Tech Wax of one side of the hood, we backed the Audi into the sun to snag some photos to show ability of M80 Speed Glaze with our W-8006 foam polishing pad on the G100 at the 5.0 setting to remove rotary buffer holograms and restore a show car finish.

    Good job Erwin!

Modern tuner cars, an American classic 1960 Caddy, a classic British Jenson Healey roadster, a Guard's Red Porsche 911, a hyper exotic Ferrari F40, a '76 TransAm (pre Smokey & the Bandit!), a Formula 1 influenced Acura NSX, a gas sipping Smart car, a replacement Viper for the outgoing well known yellow first gen, an original owner Porsche 914 being handed down to the next generation......talk about a Car Crazy mix of guys and girls!! About 40 of us, all walks of life, all styles of cars, all age groups. Pretty much what Barry Meguiar it talking about every Thursday night, huh?

Once again many, many thanks to Meguiar's for opening up their garage to all of us, to Mike & Mike for their expert guidance, and Barry for taking a few minutes out of his busy schedule to hang with us. What a night!!

          Great picture Mike!

It was by far the busiest Meguiar's Garage we've had so far and you're right about the mix of cars and people. I had a great time as I got to work on all kinds of cars that night plus show a lot of people the correct techniques for using Meguiar's products.

I still have some photos to add to this thread but that will be tomorrow. That was fun!

The place to be in SoCal on Wednesday nights!

Good food, good people, good fun all at Meguiar's Garage!

Even though the appearance of a '77 T/A was featured in the movie when filmed in 76, it was the '76 T/A that was originally supposed to be used. The '76 T/A was the debut year of the black & gold color scheme based on the John Player race cars of that time and this was the car that was originally supposed to be featured in the movie, but production delays resulted in the movie being shot the '77 T/A's instead. '76 was the last year of the optional 455 engine and the single round headlights where as the 77 & 78 T/A had the quad headlights & smaller shaker, but many of the scenes in the movie were shot with 455 equipped cars.

I just wanted to share some extra tidbits about the car. Thanks so much for posting some terrific pics

OOOOOOOHHHHHH. A GT40 . Hats off to Barry Meguiar yet again.

While at last year's F1 race in Indy, I was fortunate enough to see 2 real GT40's. One in the museum at the track, and the other on the street. Man did that 427 ever sound good. And this is coming from a die-hard Chevy man.

Mike, do you know if this one has any history????

He might not have. There were black ones too. The Mark IV that I saw in the museum was black.

Because Black is pretty much the coolest color ever.

Barry's is the GT, not the real GT40. A very nice car indeed
