You did the best you could with it. On past cars I've worked on, I've found that a PC or rotary and M80 followed by NXT Metal Polysh works great.
But it doesn't always work out well, and the chrome wasn't in the best condition for perfect restoration.

I was blown to see with my own eyes the results of applying #7. No matter how the paint was cleaned, it had a hint of haze. After applying and removing #7, the paint just got richer and deeper
