  • #83 with a Light Cutting or Polishing Pad???

    So I still haven't purchased some W8006s

So for now, I'm trying to work with these LC pads

I'm applying #83 to my 2001 Ford Mustang using LCs light cutting pad, possibly the equivalent to the maroon W7006. I understand that this is quite an aggressive combo, however I am still showing a good amount of swirling.

I'm using only a small bead of product around the edge of the pad, working it in at a slow arm speed with a PC speed setting of 5, and I'm using the correct pressure on the head of the polisher. I let the product work in for about 5 minutes making roughly 4-5 passes

My results are and slight haze from the cutting pad, that's easily fixable with the #80, but the swirling is still showing.

What could I be doing wrong?
    Overapplication?
Not letting the diminishing abrasives break down?
How hard is ford clear coat?

    Hi GTBrad,

Why don't you make plans to come to this weeks Meguiar's Garage, bring your LC pads and let us have a stab at isolating the problems and showing your the solutions.

I'll create the sign-up thread right now.

#83 does dust with the orange pad. it doesn't dust with a W8006, I have no idea why but i know it as a fact. I was using a new orange pad and #83 on a cool surface and it started dusting almost right away.
