  • Where do I start?

A friend has asked me to work on her 94 Neon (red). It has an after market spoiler that is BADLY oxidized and the headlights look like yellow balloons. The rest of the car is not as bad as the spoiler but I would guess that it has been at least two years without any care but an occasional wash (probably with detergent). 1. Is the Plasti-X going to do anything to the headlight lenses? 2. How aggressive of cleaner do I need?

Use PlastX with a peice of terry cloth towel and put some passion into it when you apply it, if one application doesn't work then apply a second, maybe even a third.

As for the paint, if you're working by hand you can either do a one-step process or a multi-step process depending on how much effort you want to put into it.

Like mentioned already, ColorX is formulated for just this condition of car, just like when you apply the PlastX, apply the ColorX using either a foam, microfiber or terry cloth applicator and use an ample amount, (not too much nor to little), and put some passion behind your pad.

Start of on the right track and wash the car very thoroughly and clay it after you wash and dry it off. Also clay the glass and the headlights to, remove the above surface bonded contaminants first and this will allow the other products to do their job more easily.

Best of luck, take some before and after photos.

Try ColorX on the spoiler with passion behind each application. Don't give up after one application.

I guess I should mention that I use a PC DA buffer for most of my work. Should I still apply the PlastX by hand for better results? Same question for the ColorX ... by hand or with the PC DA? Fine cutting pad? cutting pad? applicator pad. I have never tried anything like either of the suggested products. I usually use #9 and wax or the CD 1,2 then Gold Class. But my rigs have been treated tenderly since they came off the showroom floor.

Either or really. I used plastx on an old escort by hand and it worked great after doing it a few times.
