Is it better to put a couple of coats of wax on them or a couple of coats of meatal polish or neither?

Looking to protect them from brake dust inbetween washes, and of course, give them the best possible shine

    Thanks,

    Re: Chrome Wheels...

I always wax chrome or painted wheels - makes clean up a snap later on. Keep in mind that if you use a harsh wheel cleaner on them you will most likely strip the wax off and it will need to be reapplied. I used to use a wheel cleaner and brush to clean my wheels before I washed the rest of the car, but what I do now is wash the car first then switch to an old lambswool mitt and just use the bucket of car wash soap to clean them. With the wax on them they clean right up and look great.

If your wheels are clear coated (not sure if yours are, I would guess they are).... You can use the same products you use on your vehicles paint on your wheels.

Is there anyway to tell if they are clear coated? I have eagle alloy 026's, I've checked there website and there's no info. Just says 'chrome' for the finish. Is there some sort of a test to see if they are coated?

The jeep liberty has plastic "chromed" covers on the wheels doesn't it? I got a set of wheels off a liberty, only to find out the chrome was just a plastic cover.

Sorry to bring back from the dead, just wondered if your wheels were the same as the ones I got.

Yup, those are 'chromed' plastic. They probably have clear coat on them. I was pretty mad as I didnt know thats what they were when I got the Jeep.
