  • More Power or doing it by hand!

Tim Allen or the Karate Kid. Which produces a better looking longer lasting finish, power tools or elbow grease?

Assuming that you are applying the same product a power should get you done is less time but what are the risks and do you get a better finished product? [SIZE=3][FONT=Times New Roman]Yes I know it is a simple question but if I have three cars that need waxing and I don

both will produce results with similar endurance...... but with power tool of course its going to give you a easier time applying it and a much more even finish with much more defect removal power.....

No question, I prefer machine over hand. IME, its seems to provide better results.

Polishing: a machine makes defect removal much, much easier and of course faster too. The more serious defects, those stretching the ability of the G-100 for example, would be a royal pain in the behind to remove by hand. A rotary, in unskilled hands, has the potential to damage paint in a big way. By hand that's gotta be hard to do (or so I would think!!)

Wax (applying): a machine makes it super easy to apply a very thin, even coat. Sure, you can accomplish the same task fairly easily by hand, but with multiple vehicles to maintain, time is of the essence. Use the machine.

Wax (removal): a machine makes quick work of this task but can't reach the tighter areas so you'll need to go over those by hand anyway. An overzealous approach may find a user "buffing" longer than need be, but since detailing is all about technique, just use good technique!! (duh)

Bottom line: anything you can do by hand can be done faster and usually better by machine. Multiply that by the number of cars you have.
