When should one replace the pad on a DA? Should one wait till the foam starts to break off (too late by then I guess) or is there any other tip that you suggested as a guideline for pad replacement.

There is no difinitive sign when to replace a pad. Other than it falling apart, you have to go off your gut and experience with the pads. If you have used a pad quite a bit and you think it might be close to falling apart, then go ahead and replace it before they start to fall apart.John Keeling
