  • my first real detail!

today i finally got a chance to spend all day with my car. it was soo friggin dirty, rims looked like they were gunmetal... today i got it all cleaned up and finally got to use the scratchX on it. did a great job and don't think my car has been this shiny ever. tomorrow morning i'm going to use my quick detailer to lightly take off any dust that might accumlate tonight and go ahead and put my first coat of wax on her... Tech Wax. Can't wait to see the final results and will post some pics up here tomorrow when everything is done. can't wait to get some money and buy the DA as i think i could do a better job with it.

Detailing cars is a form of art. Most appreciate it, few possess the required skill and even fewer understand it.

Hmm.. I assume your SVT is an SVT Focus? But then how is it built in 1978?

Murr: it's SVT Build # 1329 of 1978 - so only 1978 are built of this version and his is number 1329 out of 1978 - just like some MINI JCW's have an identifier number.

Can't wait to see the pictures. That orange will pop!

                    Good job!
You might try some scratchX on the roof I think (picture 4) as you can see swirling. Or maybe that's why you mentioned getting the DA?

Nice set of wheels too on this beautiful (bright!) FoFo

yeah, i even used the scratchX. did as much as my arms could allow, spent about 4-5 hours cleaning it and applying that scratchX. i've never waxed/claybared my car before and this is the punishment for going to the carwashes and using the brushes there

next time i do this, probably in the beggining of spring, i'm going to clay it and use a DA and make this baby glass smooth...

                          looks good mate.

no before pics though? around here, everyone likes to see the big change.

yeah some scratch X or a few other products might work out those swirls. but certainly a DA will help for sure.
