in addition to what and how many brushes you got at Big Lots. Let add how many Big Lots did you travel to, to find all the brushes you can get.

      All of them!

Who the heck is running the show over there? Is it time to start buying boutique products????? I would have guess the high profit margins in spray heads and bottles could have "carried" the brushes!
"Is it time to start buying boutique products?????" One of many reasons I switched a lot of my detailing supplies to the boutique products for mine and my wife's cars. The brushes and towels, and the availability of the off-the-shelf waxes for the cars I detail for money, are the only reason I put up with their nonsense. Dropping these brushes is another dumb move.

My recommendation... stock up. Buy the remaining supply from Biglots. However, a word of caution. These brushes, especially the ones with longer handles, be carefully when knocking the head of brush to fling off water. The connector hinges that go inside the brush housing and the handle can snap right off. The heads on the brushes are sturdy. It's the flimsy design of how they connect is suspect to having a long life. No matter, just have a good stock of handles.

What nonsense are you putting up with exactly? Hey, if the detailing enthusiast community was the only demographic buying these brushes, then I can see where it wouldn't be a financially sound product line for Meguiar's to continue manufacturing. Let's face it, just like anyone else (Poorboys, Mother's, Collonite, P21S, Adam's, Griot's, Zaino, Pakshak, et al) Meguiar's is in business to make money. If a product line is losing money for them, then why keep it going? Hey, I'm not thrilled that these products have been discontinued either, but a lot of enthusiasts seemed to able to detail a car reasonably well before they existed. Besides, is it that much more difficult to order Meguiar's products online than it is any of the boutique products?

You can also go to Dollar General stores to get Meguiar's thing's. I got a Meguiar's detailing brush from there today for $2.50.

I can't speak for where you live in California, but I can't imagine these brushes didn't sell well there. Turtle Wax seems to do real well with their products. Meijer (a Midwest grocery/super-center chain that originated the concept) sells Turtle Wax's brushes year in and year out. Same with their towels. Murray's Auto Parts, a Detroit based auto parts chain, sold the hell out of Meguiar's brushes. And these were good brushes, too. Among the best I've ever seen.

It's too damn cold around here for me to go in the garage to look, but if I'm not mistaken, these brushes were manufactured overseas, possibly China. Even with packaging, warehousing, and distribution, Meguiar's had a nice profit margin built into these tools. They were quality enough brushes to sell at a price point slightly higher than Turtle Wax, and the chains I saw carrying them had no problem turning their inventory over, so I have no clue what standards Merguiar's management used to make the decision to drop these fine products.

And I know how low overseas manufacturing costs are, because it affects my business every day. My shop quotes on custom made material handling equipment against a firm that manufacturers theirs in China. I lose each and every quote. This company gets them made in China, ships them to the west coast by freighter, then rail and truck to Detroit, to send them to my shop, so we can rework them (repair, and in some case rebuild them), and then we ship them out to the end users - Detroit & transplant auto plants, heavy truck plants like Freightliner and Peterbuilt, and appliance manufacturers. And this clown that I'm losing orders to still makes a nice profit, even after we charge him for the rework.

So trust me - Meguiar's had some nice profit margins in these. They could have kept them, and rain a national sales champaign in the spring with some "reduced" prices, and still turned a profit.

                      Hi Dibbuz, welkom to MOL!

If you look up “boutique” in the dictionary one of the definitions is “a small company that offers highly specialized services or products.” That pretty much says it.

Meguiar’s, Mothers, 3M, Turtle Wax, etc are not boutique products. Zymol, Swissol and Pinnacle are. (But the blue liquid Zymol cleaner/wax isn’t. It’s made by Turtle Wax.)

This past weekend we went to biglots and I picked up just about allthat they had left. All that remained was 4 qd pads and a couple slide lock brushes.

I went to about 6 of my local Big Lots and was able to find a good assorment of brushes at a good price.

You just have to go to each Big Lots because they each seem to carry different products.

This was in the St. Petersburg FL area
