A new account??

I just received an e-mail from MOL telling me "you have created a new account at Meguiars Online, and may login." It also gave me a new password. Didn't do this. What's up? When I clicked on the link provided, it was disabled.

I just got that too. Its spam I think. My password is still the same as it was.

I got the same message, addressed to my name, something I don't post to the forum. So either the forum database has been compromised or it's some sort of malfunction.

Soonercivic - Thanks for the really quick response. Nothing appeared changed for me either but wasn't sure whether I was suddenly dealing with 2 accounts, one of which I didn't set up. We probably aren't the only two - that would be strange.

Yeah, I tried the password just in case and it didn't work. I sure didn't click on the links though and I suggest nobody does.

Ditto. I just got one too. But how would a spammer know the e-mail addy associated with my MOL account here? I *didn't* click on the link. Methinks someone is up to no good.

I pm'd mike with this thread so he can check into it. As of now, nobody should follow the instructions. They are irrelevant and most likely someone is spaming for info or viruses.

I got it too, almost opened it, but something about sounded weird, so I didn't and glad I didn't. It sounds like a phishing scam. Happens here at work a lot...

We're experiencing some sort of glitch in the system, we are aware of it, please don't e-mail us or PM us over this as my e-mail is starting to fill up and phone calls are starting to come in and we're trying to figure out what's going on.

It's out of my control so I'd rather post to this thread then answer a zillion e-mails... (if you know what I mean)

That said, many of you saw a sneek peek of our new forum that will be up soon. if you did...you lucky dog !!! Please be patient as we figure out where the Ghost is in the machine.

I just ran a complete virus scan (McAfee) and turned up nothing. I'm probably the only one of us dumb enough to click on the provided link but it evidently didn't hurt me. We'll see.
