    Re: Gilmour Foam Gun

I find it needs the agitation of a mit or something to really come clean.... but thats why I wash in the rain... 3 minutes and done, and almost no spots afterward.

If I waited for it to rain here my car would only get washed twice a year!!

I see that Gilmour has several different models, which did you find works best for you?

Has anyone seen these for sale at any retail locations or is the Internet Highway about the only way to find one?

Ive never seen one at a retail location. I believe there are two different models its only the bottle size thats different. I have the quart sized one and I can do one half of the car at a time. The bigger one is the half gallon bottle.

Well, there are a few different ones. There are 2 different size botles, but also different mixing valves (metal or plastic) and a set ratio, or adjustable ratio.

I use the brass adustable 1 quart jug.

^x2. The brass adjustable one is the one thats on Autogeek and such. I keep it set all the way to the left so I get the most foam. I too have a 1 quart jug. Didnt see the point of spending $10 more for a bigger jug.

Try Eagle One Car Wash soap. It really does alot of foam.

                    Here is the difference

Here is the Foam Gun with EO Car Soap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M102F4k8zI4

Hi Egleone, I believe that foam is an added agent to soaps, detergents .It is mostly useful to keep dirt floating in water. Please correct me if i am wrong.
                      Thanks

                        Re: Gilmour Foam Gun

Foam certainly isnt essential for a wash product to be good. But since the idea of a foam gun is to get some foam (which will have your soap, lubricants, etc in it) to cling to the car for a bit while washing, instead of running off, you want at least some foam for best results.

What are you trying to say? Who said anything about dirt staying on foam in water? I was saying that I have used DC Car Soap and it is not that good at foaming. You need foam, lubercation if you don't want swirl marks. If not, just wash your car with only water. If you have a good foam on a car with a foam gun, you will reduce the chance of getting swirls. Correct me if I am wrong.

Then why go buy a 60 dollar foam gun. I can get that much from my Ortho Dial n Spray. The ONLY purpose of a foam gun is to CREATE FOAM. You can do two things with it, presoak, Which once again, requires FOAM. The other is a Spray during the washing. Which once again, foam is key.

Why go buy a 60 dollar foam gun? For the fun of it, I guess. Foam is not essential to washing a vehicle without instilling swirls.

Just a thought, if you really like Eagle One products, why don't you head on over to their forum and talk with the people there? This is the second old thread you have revived to say people should use Eagle One instead of Meguiar's. Most people on MOL are all for hearing people's honest opinion on the products they use (and that includes competitors products), but when you are reviving dead threads to plug Eagle One, that comes across kind of strange.

Can't say that I've ever used Deep Crystal Soap in my foam gun but I have used Super Soap, Gold Class, NXT and #62 Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner and they all foam at least as good if not better than the EO shown in the YouTube video.

That doesn't make any of these shampoos, including EO, good, bad or otherwise. It just means some are possibly better suite for foam gun use than others. Big deal.
