  • Boat waxing/polishing

Okay guys I am tackling my second boat here and this is what I see. On the hull I am using Meguiar's marine cleaner wax as there is vwery light oxidation. I am applying the wax with an orbital using an orange light cutting pad. I am buffing it out with a micro-fiber towel. The shine is fantastic but I have what almost looks like swirl marks or areas where the wax did not buff off. I can assure you it was. Most boats that I look at have this same look to them is this normal?

I have tried other wax products with the same results so my guess it is in the gelcoat. The opposite side of this boat which I have not done also has this.

This condition does not sound normal. What is the make and model of the boat? What was the condition of the gelcoat prior to starting the job? What is the age of the boat?

You can tell the age of the boat by the last two numbers of the serial tag, which is located on the right side of the stern on the hull. Just about every boat has the serial tag located in this position.

      Frank,
Thanks for the response. After spending much of yesterday trying differant products I finally used brand X, fiberglass restorer wax and it did a great job using the orbital buffer. I am curious as to what Meguiar's product would be equal to this?
