Anyone know if the 1979 Corvette (red) has a single stage paint or something else?

Re: 1979 Corvette
If it's factory it should be single stage.
To date, the oldest factory clearcoated Vette we've worked on was a 1981
Just do a simple test using a little paint cleaner and a clean cloth, rub the paint cleaner onto the paint and then turn the cloth over and see if you're pulling color.

Re: 1979 Corvette
Paint allegations are pretty common on older repainted Vettes but not exculsively limited to Vettes. The repaint sometimes is put on too thick & not fully dried, therefore the solvents slowly evaporate causing a "shrinkage" of the paint producing very fine cracks/lines in the color coat. Sometimes they look like swirls in the clear but upon close evaluation it's the color coat.Death Before Dishonor
