Re: Spark Plugs - What's Running?

I'm currently running a set of Denso Iridiums in my PT Turbo, primarily because with the Stage 1 upgrade and a few other bits I'm running a fair amount more boost than stock. They are also one heat range cooler than stock. I also have Magnecor wires on that car.

The Crossfire is running the same 12 (yep, 2 per cylinder) Bosch Platinums the factory put in it, along with the factory wires.

The hemi's also have two per cylinder.. I dread changing the plugs in that engine.

Although after looking at it it seems like they are fairly easy to get to..

Bosch Platinum + 4'S in the Impala. Just changed the originals at about 90,000 miles.

Just remember that cooler plugs will foul quicker, so swap them out sooner than you would with stock heat range plugs. I ran one step colder on a 98 Firebird Formula I had and the plugs only lasted 13k before fouling out so much that it wouldn't rev beyond 5000 rpm (I thought my fuel pump was toast!)

Re: Spark Plugs - What's Running?

I changed the plugs in 2 of my cars at 100K. No real problems but thought it was time to do them. One is a 98 Chevy Astro van and the other is a 01 Saturn L200. I got the plugs from Wal-Mart for both cars. They were Autolite and I think they were platinums.

Try changing the plugs on a V6 Astro van! There was no way to do it from the top so I did them from under neath. Luckily there is quite a bit of room and I didn't even need to jack up the car. I had to stretch for some of them and had enough tools (sockets, u joints, extentions and ratchets) to get the job done with relative ease.

I run motorcraft plugs in the mustang.. Stock rating/etc

I run Autolite 104 coppers in the buick, 2 stages cooler than stock - and less chance of a hot point in the combustion chamber (IE less risk of detonation)

The Camry.. I'm not allowed to work on on my own, haha - It is a company vehicle
