    Hey everyone,

On Chrismas eve about 7:30 when my father -in-law was trying to leave my house he noticed his 6 month only Buick lacerne(spelling) was hit. I went out to see how bad it was, and the person hit his passenger side front fender and wheel. The impact probably broke a tie rod since the wheel was kicked in about 3 -4 inches from straight. We called the cops and while we waited myself and another neighbor trailed the line of radiator fluid down my street. We were hoping we could find them and we did, about 2 1/2 blocks away. When the cops got there we told him we found the car. After taking my father -in -laws info he went to the H and R drivers house. It was a 83 year old man who stated he did not even know he hit anything. This got the cop kind of mad do to the fact that what if it was a person he hit instead of a parked car. The other driver got multiple ticket to include leaving the seen of an accident plus some other ticket. The cop also stated that he put him in for a drivers re-test. This is the second time since he got the car that someone has hit the carwhile it was parked, And to boot he just got it back from the body shop 2 months ago. This was his first new car in about 20 years as he always bought used cars and I can see why. My father in law said that he drives the nj parkway daily at 70 mph and he gets hit twice in 6 month while it is parked. Here are 2 pictures for you to see.

Man, that really stinks on christmas eve of all days. Well I guess everyone should be thankful there was no one hurt. Glad you caught the driver, and the cop put him in to be retested.

I've had the same experience w/several vehicles. Your father-in-law is lucky in catching the perp & not getting the headlight cluster smashed.

Thats why i would never park on the street by the house. People dont have respect for others any more. Hope it gets repaired better than new.

Sorry to hear about this..the same exact thing happened to my Grandfathers F100 (original owner) last year. He also traced the raditor fluid and it was also an older gentleman that had no idea he hit anything. The other thing that helped find him was the fact that the bumper was left there and it was custom paint with stripes so it was kinda easy to match it up to a car...

                Again, sorry to hear this,

Ouch! Sorry to hear that, not something you want to experience on Christmas. It least you caught the person that did it! Normally they get away with it.

That *****. Glad you caught the guy though! And Im glad the cop signed him up for a retest. Some people do not need to be on the road.

Maybe he should try parking somewhere else?

                      Re: Hit and Run

Where he parked he was off the road by a minimum of 3/4 car width. There was a truck that was parked 35 feet infront of my father in law who by size of the vehicle was further in the street than him and the truck owner did not get hit only my father-in-law did. Go figure. The truck driver was the person who went on the tracking mission with me.

                        Re: Hit and Run

Good to hear everyone was OK! My family and I didn't have the best of luck this Christmas either!

I literally almost killed 2 people today who were not paying attention. One came around a U shaped turn with over half of their car in my lane. If I hadn't been able to completely stop (it was icy out), I would have t-boned her and shoved her car off the road into the ravine. Second, I was just coming home on Hwy 88 at 55 mph and some lady who apparently did not look before she pulled back out and lazily (really slowly) pulled out right in front of me and the front of my truck almost ended up in the back seat with her little girl.

I also just found out my sister's new car got completely side swiped at her work, the guy got out, said it wasn't that bad and left. My mom hit a mountain lion on her way to go look at my sister's car...My mom found the car in a nearby parking lot with the paint all over it still, and the Tribal Police (it is at the Indian Casino) said it wasn't worth their time to investigate it. See what comes of that tomorrow.

                        WHAT A DAY!!!

Most likely the insurance company will require a police report. Did the crash actually happen on Indian Reservation property? Sometimes they respond to incidents outside of their jurisdiction. Talking to a police supervisor may help if you don't get any cooperation. I am no expert on tribal police powers, but if you don't get any action, maybe you should contact the State Patrol or Sheriff.

Yes, on their property. My mother talked to them and they are, we'll go with rethinking, their decisions about such things. There was another incident with my sister's belongings there and they did nothing. 2 times in one month.

It's already being worked on. My mother knows the entire Sheriff's Office and over half of the CHP department.

Didn't mean to take over at all, sorry!!!
