  • Aromor all... Meguiar's... scents

    Hi folks,

My husband doesn't like the car to have any noticable smell to it. Last year I used Meguiar's leather wipes (since I use Meguiar's everything else) and he said it made the car smell like dog shampoo. (Sorry Meguiar's) So I switched to using armor all leather wipes and armor all protectant on the black plasticy interior parts and aromor all cleaning wipes on the chrome-looking pieces.

Things have been fine this last year with using armor all on my interior. Suddenly after my last detail, hubby says that the interior smells like 100 year-old dust. I do not smell this at all. (I did detect a scent previously when he thought the Megiuar's smelled like dog wash.)

Having been wary of using Meguiar's on my interior since the dog wash incident, I have not bought or used any meg's on the interior. I don't even know what's out there. With new products and product enchancements lately, does anyone know of a Meguiar's interior product(s) for treating leather, cleaning the interior, and keeping black things nice and black that DON'T have a scent to them?

Or perhaps (gasp) a non-meguiar's product for these purposes that is scent-less?

    Thanks in advance.

Quik Interior Detailer is great stuff, as are both the aloe leather cleaner and conditioners from the consumer line, or the leather cleaner/conditioner from the Detailer line.

Sounds like your husband has an overly sensitive nose and you're going to have a very difficult time finding something with NO smell to it. The trick is finding a smell that isn't offensive to him. I've been using the two aloe products on my leather seats since I bought it new 4 years ago and to this day if I take a new client out in the car they will invariably comment on my "new" car. When I tell them its real age they immediately ask how I managed to keep that "new car smell".

If your husband doesn't like the smell of a new car..........then I'm lost. Get him a motorcycle. Or at least tell him to select the products in the future.

Perhaps you should both go the shops and agree on a product by its smell. My wife is asthmatic i let her choose products for the interior, house and car.
This way i can't be wrong.

Have your husband take the bus...J/K, try Quik Interior Detailer™, it's scent dissappears almost instantly. For your leather try Gold Class™ Rich Leather Spray. Apply it with a foam pad and then remove the excess with a Terry/ Microfiber towel. I doubt that with this combo your husband will notice any scents. You could also allow the vehicle to air out for a few minutes after you detail it.

You could try continue cleaning the interior with the products that you already use and after that using something like Febreze or Oust or even Meguiar's Odor Eliminator to kill any smell left behind in the use of any product.

Or like Mike said, tell him to pick a product he likes

He could be picking up a smell from a stale in cabin air filter. I would suggest replacing this item before going out and buying everyinterior protectorant on the market.

The reason I suggest this is it sounds like from your post its a smell that overwhelms him when he first starts up the car./ A nasty in cabin air filter will do this to you.

                    Good luck, keep us posted.

Tell him to go find the product on his own, and make him clean his own car. Tell him I said that too. lol Honestly it's easy to complain but when comes to actual work you are doing it.
