Really nice job on the bird etching.
I really like the last pictures Mike, the banner looks very wet and deep black, just love it.

Seems like you guys had fun, hope one day I could join you

Re: Pictures from Open Garage - 3-13-2008

Getting water spots and bird etching on my hood after only 2 months of owning the car, I was very frustrated. But Going to a "pro detailer" that said it would need wet sanding and $200, made me furious! This was my first experience with Meguiar's and the Open Garage and I must say, I was not only blown away by the line of products, but the customer care and passion of the Meguiar's team. The open garage made me a customer for life! Thanks Meguiar's!!! I'm going right back to that detailer to show him what you guys did for me!!!

Re: Pictures from Open Garage - 3-13-2008

The owner of this BMW attended a previous class where we tried to remove all the swirls and scratches using only the Dual Action Polisher and while we removed the light swirls the deeper scratches just were not coming out so we told him to come by one of our Thursday Night Open Garage classes and we'll try the rotary buffer. So after a few lessons he was working out the scratches one section at a time.

Ruben Garcia overseas and provides tips and feedback during the defect removal process.

Ruben is one of our MDS Service Specialist and a seasoned veteran behind the rotary buffer. Ruben has undoubtedly trained hundreds and likely thousands of people on the proper use of the rotary buffer. If you're ever at our Thursday Night Garage event and you see Ruben, be sure to pick his brain on how to properly use the rotary buffer, he's always willing to share his years of experience.

After using some M83 with a W-7006 foam cutting pad to remove the deepest scratches, some M80 with a W-8006 foam polishing pad is used with the G110 to insure any swirls are removed and then after that some NXT 2.0 is applied again using the G110 but with a W-9006 finishing pad.

The results were a swirl and scratch free showroom shine!

Proudest Car Moment: Taking my Mini to a BMW “Mini” dealership and having all the customers migrate over to my car instead of the new cars in the showroom. I was jokingly asked to leave because no one wanted to hear about the BMW Mini’s.

The Jimmy has never had any maintenance since it was painted about 5 months ago...

So we clayed just the hood and here's what we removed!

After claying all the paint Brian and Jessi went over the paint using ColorX with a W-8006 Polishing pad using the G110 on the 5.0 setting.

Brian working on the removable hardtop.

Jesse working on the Driver's side...

              Came out pretty good...

              Thanks everyone!

Once again I had a great time at Meguiars. It was nice to meet some new faces and meet up with the familiar faces.

We bought the Jimmy in January and besides washing it one time, this was the first time we ever did any paint care related work. The rest of the time since buying it was spent converting it from a manual 4-speed with a clutch to a 700R4 Automatic.

The gunk we removed off the hood was surprising to us also!
