I just tried out my G-100 works great but have a question. I used scratchX on my spoiler and I can see the tiny but way noticable scratches under the florescent lights in my garage. I hit the spoiler 4 times in 3 different sections and when i was done I can still see some scratches that won't come out with the scratchX, Now I am wondering maybe the scratches could be below the clear because the car was repainted in sections. I was on setting 5 and putting around 20 pounds of pressure down. Should I try the M80? Or M83? What is the difference between M80 and M83. But the sureface is so smooth I am amazed, I thought I got the car as best I can by hand but now with the G-100 it is a hole new ball game of getting the surface even better.

I would try stepping up to M80 as it's quite a bit more aggressive than ScratchX.

M80 has more of Meguiar's polishing oils in it than M83 does but M83 has more aggressive polishing/defect correcting abilities. M83 doesn't have as much play time as M80 does either but sometimes you need that little extra oomph depending on the paint, degree of defect, etc.

Curious about the possibility of the scratches being under the clear though - that would be bad. Do you have a swirl finder light to get a really close look?

No I don't have a swirl finder light. would a LED light work? I have the florescent lighting and that is how I discovered that I have all these noticeable scartches. The car was repainted in some areas and I am wondering if the scratches are from sanding the car when it had no paint. My local paint shop carries megs pro line but they were out of the M80 and M83 but they are ordering me some.

ScratchX is mild compared to the others you mentioned. I would agree with Mike an step up to the M80 and try that out. I did 2 passes on my car to get it looking better.

Maybe, maybe not. Sort of depends on the light. Pull it out in direct sunlight in the middle of the day and look at from different angles to see if you can discern whether the scratches are under the clear or just your typical cobwebs, scratches, scuffs, etc.

Get that M80 though and work it a good long time. As long as it stays wet in an area immediately after the pad has passed over then it's still good to go. M80 has a very long play time, but don't work it to a dry buff. Give it a couple of passes if need be and see where that gets you.

Thanks Mike in orange and Brickyarzd. I will pull it out in direct sunlight and look over it. I will give M80 a shot but if I can't get it out I won't matter that much becuase the car has faded paint. The reason why I would not want to paint it is because it was a ex pace car for infineon race way and it has all these cool decals in the paint.
