  • What did you do over Memorial Weekend?

Besides thinking and praying for our soldiers everytime I saw an American Flag......

I know it's kinda late, but spent the last couple of days washing laundry, unloading the trailer etc.

We went camping, not the 5th wheel, trailer, motorhome with TV camping, we set up our tents, kid each had a tent and roughed it for 4 days with no shower

In my previous post, I said I was going to go fishing, then fishing, then fish some more.

We went to Brookings Oregon and did some river fishing in the Chetco (Nothing). Surf fishing in Brookings (Nothing!). My dad and I took my stepson bottom fishing and he caught the only fish and it was a ling cod 23" and about 4.5 pounds. He was excited. Then we went river fishing in the Chetco again, (nothing). Monday we went bottom fishing again and limited out. It was fun. My dad broke one of his poles on a snag while bottom fishing, that was a bummer, gives him an excuse to get another pole though.

We saw a family of whales, yes whales, it was awesome. I heard a snort and didn't think it was any of us and I looked over and saw Jr. roaming around. He was a little guy and saw his tail, then we saw what could have been momma, bigger, THEN we saw another whale, it was cool to say the least.

Here we go with some pix.

Thomas with his first fish in the ocean, he looks a little excited. It struck hard and hard to get in.

Back at camp holding his prize.

This is my dad driving the boat, it appears he was bummed that the water bottle had water in it.....LOL. Just kidding. Thomas gave us great updates on depth and what not on the fish finder.

This is a somewhat lousy, best picture we could get of the whales, we missed the photos of the tail shots as they went under quite fast and after all we were fishing....

Another shot..... hard to see but they were there and it was awesome.

Saw some other wildlife from the sea.....This big boy didn't want to move, it was his spot!

This is Thomas' mom a couple of years ago in the same spot where he caught his Lingcod, she got a cabazone fish. She was happy too! Runs in the family eh? LOL.

This is yours truly as a tike, I caught the flounder on a spin caster and no one believed me when I said I had a fish on. You know the kid says, I got a fish, and it's nothing type of thing.... LOL. The fishing bug hit at a yound age, behind me is my cousin Marci, my dad's brother daughter. Circa 1974-75ish

We had a good time and thanks to some brave soldiers active and non active, we are able to do these things with our families.

Thanks Soldiers! (and you too Joe, Derrick and anyone else on the forum for your service to our Country).

Aaron looks like you and your family had a great time. I echo your thoughts about our soldiers. We just did some spring cleaning. My wifes mother is coming in 2 weeks. Took the time to prepare for the visit.

All my plans were dashed when one of my co-workers brought disease and pestilence into the office, infecting me to the point where all I did was lay on the sofa coughing uncontrollably, my throat ravaged in raw, searing pain, my brain continually plotting my co-workers demise upon my return to work on Tuesday. Yeah, that was fun.

Oh, I did watch the F1 Monaco Grand Prix (very entertaining rain race!), which was about the only thing on my "fun list for the weekend" that I actually managed to accomplish.

And, yes, my co-worker is still alive - and I'm feeling much better, thank you very much.

This quote is being emailed around our office as soon as I quit typing here. That's just too funny.

Saturday I was best man for my friends wedding. Sunday I went on a second date with the new girlfriend. Monday I started cleaning the garage. I hardly had time to relax. Good thing I could come back to work and rest up.

So which one of the Mikes spread the disease? ...hahaha...

Well, last weekend was my sister's graduation, so there was PLENTY to do around the house.

The sidewalk and porch were power washed and sealed on Thursday. Then I contracted some friends (I detailed their trucks, so they owed me some favors) and we pulled out the hollies and finished the landscape along the garage.

On Saturday, my Uncle and I drove around town and looked at old houses. Then, we compromised a bit - he wanted to go the Rolex dealer and I wanted to go to the Porsche dealership.

          Sunday was graduation.

On Monday, my Uncle and I detailed my Aunt's Expedition. He is in the market for a PC, so I let him use mine. I removed all the scratches with M83 on the rotary while he polished with M80 on the PC. He loved the way NXT 2.0 made everything bead like crazy!

I did some fishing with my old man. Caught lots of fish including this 36" Northern Pike. We also stopped and visited my grandfather at the cemetery. They had a Memorial Day service going which was nice since my grandfather served in WW2.

Thanks to persons that tend to throw food leftovers in whatever is closest to them, be it kitchen sink, or toilet or bathroom sink, I have spent majority of time dealing with unplugging of those lines or in Home Depot. Kitchen line is completed, bathroom sink is work in progress, toilet and shower is kinda OK but there is a need for more work on them. What a way to spend days that we should be spending reminescing on things behind the Memorial Day.

I did a FULL paint restoration/swirl/scratch removal plus interior clean-up on a 2003 Jag XJ. It was lots of fun and paid well

I went to church and that's basically all I did. Those are some weird looking fish there. I've never seen them before.
