Besides thinking and praying for our soldiers everytime I saw an American Flag......
I know it's kinda late, but spent the last couple of days washing laundry, unloading the trailer etc.
We went camping, not the 5th wheel, trailer, motorhome with TV camping, we set up our tents, kid each had a tent and roughed it for 4 days with no shower
In my previous post, I said I was going to go fishing, then fishing, then fish some more.
We went to Brookings Oregon and did some river fishing in the Chetco (Nothing). Surf fishing in Brookings (Nothing!). My dad and I took my stepson bottom fishing and he caught the only fish and it was a ling cod 23" and about 4.5 pounds. He was excited. Then we went river fishing in the Chetco again, (nothing). Monday we went bottom fishing again and limited out. It was fun. My dad broke one of his poles on a snag while bottom fishing, that was a bummer, gives him an excuse to get another pole though.
We saw a family of whales, yes whales, it was awesome. I heard a snort and didn't think it was any of us and I looked over and saw Jr. roaming around. He was a little guy and saw his tail, then we saw what could have been momma, bigger, THEN we saw another whale, it was cool to say the least.
Here we go with some pix.
Thomas with his first fish in the ocean, he looks a little excited. It struck hard and hard to get in.
Back at camp holding his prize.
This is my dad driving the boat, it appears he was bummed that the water bottle had water in it.....LOL. Just kidding. Thomas gave us great updates on depth and what not on the fish finder.
This is a somewhat lousy, best picture we could get of the whales, we missed the photos of the tail shots as they went under quite fast and after all we were fishing....
Another shot..... hard to see but they were there and it was awesome.
Saw some other wildlife from the sea.....This big boy didn't want to move, it was his spot!
This is Thomas' mom a couple of years ago in the same spot where he caught his Lingcod, she got a cabazone fish. She was happy too! Runs in the family eh? LOL.
This is yours truly as a tike, I caught the flounder on a spin caster and no one believed me when I said I had a fish on. You know the kid says, I got a fish, and it's nothing type of thing.... LOL. The fishing bug hit at a yound age, behind me is my cousin Marci, my dad's brother daughter. Circa 1974-75ish
We had a good time and thanks to some brave soldiers active and non active, we are able to do these things with our families.
Thanks Soldiers! (and you too Joe, Derrick and anyone else on the forum for your service to our Country).
