  • A unique but fun polish-session...

My friend Matt called me late one Friday night.

He needed help! He’d just heard about a car stereo competition and his demo car was scratched and filthy... Could I help him clean it up?
Well, it was already 10:00 at night but I told him if he could transport the car to me, I’d do what I could to help.

The car has a pretty capable stereo system- All Alpine. A CDA9884 head unit sends out the info to an MRP F300 4-channel amplifier. While it’s not a large-sized amp, it’s about all he could fit in the confined space available to him. A single 10” Type S sub handles the low frequencies (firing downward, through the trunk), while a pair of 6.5” Type S coaxials cover the top-end music needs. The system runs off of an MRP F300 4-channel amp.
He ended up doing pretty well in the SPL portion of the contest, hitting a 135.2 dB level. That’s not too shabby for a convertible!

    The finish was funny-
    Everything we tried left scratches.
Any product containing solvent wreaked havoc upon the surface.
    Time to experiment.
We tried almost everything- Even BUTTER!
Okay- The butter was Matt’s idea...
He saw some tv show that made him recommend it. Those darned infomercials.
In the end, NXT Tech Wax applied with a W8006 at low speed worked best for removing defects.
The Detailer Water Based Dressing really made the car POP.

    It was fun.
A small arsenal of products. Meguiar's, Lubriderm, Pledge. Only the best...

    She's a blue Pony...

    Interior shot...

Engine- Errr, Amplifier. Battery upgraded to a lawnmower variety. Beauty panel removed...

Matt dials in the interior. M9910 Ultimate Wipe & Hyper Dressing...

Slow passes & slow rpm with NXT Tech Wax. Water-spritzing really helped!...

Who knew NXT Tech Wax could polish a windshield?...

Time for the LSP. Durability is questionable...

A layer of dressing helps the car GLOW. Even Coat Applicator...

Matt bumps the system as he makes a final pass...!

The system jams for about eight hours parked... Two if she's driven hard..!

That is cool! It's nice to see that detailing doesn't stop with regular sized cars and trucks.

That is great. At first I was confused. Then it was very good. Glad you had a good time doing the detail. Butter. I have missed that infomercial.

Great job on that car! The tires are shiney!
If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

Does that come in a GT500KR version, 'cause a supercharger on that baby would be seriously bad.

That's slick. My 3 year old wanted one like daddies so I built this one.
